Tiz Tiz The Law The One To Beat

The Breeders’ Cup Classic takes place at a later time than usual this year, as it will be run in November. It is one of the most lucrative races in the world of flat racing, which means there will be huge competition with a number of esteemed horses involved.

Still, could Tiz The Law be the best-placed horse to end the American flat season with a huge success?

Tiz The Law The One To Beat

There is no doubting the credentials that Tiz The Law has, and those have been showcased throughout the season by the three-year-old. The horse trained by Barclay Tag started the season with success in the first of the Triple Crown event, as it claimed success in the Belmont Stakes.

There was fierce competition in that race, with Manuel Franco riding to victory. Dr Post and Max Player finished second and third in that race, but they could get nowhere near the heavy favourite. That win was followed up with another dominant display in the Grade 1 Runhappy Travers Stakes at Saratoga.

Tiz The Law won by over six lengths from Caracaro on that occasion, with Franco able to ride home easily once Tiz The Law kicked clear. However, the favourite for the Breeders’ Cup Classic will come into the race having been beaten on his last outing on the track.

The Law was looking for a second Triple Crown success of the season at Churchill Downs in the Kentucky Derby. However, it wasn’t to be for the three-year-old, as Authentic ran out as the winner of the prestigious race by one and a quarter length.

How Tiz The Law responds from that defeat will be intriguing, but he is still the quality horse in the field.

Authentic Looking For Two On The Bounce

The chasing pack that will be looking to beat Tiz The Law will be headed by Authentic. The three-year-old already holds a victory over the famous champion this season, and a re-match between the pair will make the Breeders’ Cup Classic unmissable.

There has always been a sense that this horse trained by Bob Baffert has something special, and he has already won three from four starts since June.

Before success in the Kentucky Derby, Authentic was successful in the Group 1 TVG.com Haskell Stakes. That win was a much tighter affair, as Authentic won by just a nose from NY Traffic.

His only defeat this year came in June, as Honor A.P. beat him. That defeat shows that Authentic can be beaten, which will give Tagg and Tiz The Law confidence.

Other Standout Contenders

There are a number of other horses that are available in the ante-post market, with Maximum Security, Monomoy Girl and Ghaiyyath the standout contenders.

The latter of those will be an unknown horse for gamblers in the United States, as it has raced throughout the season in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Ghaiyyath’s record is difficult to ignore, as the Charlie Appleby-trained horse has won three from four this season, which includes a huge success against legendary Enable.

All wins have come in Group 1 races, with the Juddmonte International Stakes and Eclipse being the two most impressive. Ghaiyyath will be a leading contender if involved.

Maximum Security also has good pedigree to do well in the Breeders’ Cup Classic, as he has won both races this season. The most recent of those came in the Group 1 TVG Pacific Classic Stakes back in August, as he won by three lengths from Sharp Samurai. Maximum Security will be one to keep an eye on.
