Arsenal, under the steer of manager Arteta, have been a team that has been improving season-on-season. Last year, they posed a threat to Manchester City as they battled it out until the end alongside Liverpool, eventually succumbing in the end through some disappointing results to City lifting the title for a record fourth time. And so what we are looking for today is whether Arsenal is going to continue the improvement trend that they have displayed over the past few seasons to finally topple Pep and Manchester City for them to win their first Premier League title in over 20 years. Well, if you look at the Premier League odds, a lot of the bookmakers aren’t ruling them out after their performance last season.

A second coming?

A lot of people have compared Arsenal's resurgence to Klopp's journey towards Liverpool eventually lifting the Premier League title for the first time back in 2019. Arteta had also been in the job roughly around the same time that Klopp was until he finally helped Liverpool reach glory. The club has also been patient with Arteta as a manager and has also been supportive of him, as he takes time to not rush to implement his vision with the team and the club as a whole. Of course, he has a history with his arch-rival city and has never been shy about approaching the club for their talent.

Building the foundations

However, we are not talking about a player in this instance, but instead their squad development analyst, Darren Rogerson, who is moving to the Emirates from Manchester City and will hit the ground running working alongside the first team at Arsenal, as he looks to boost his squad and the support staff, and he looks to emulate the development success that City have had internally with their players. Other backroom staff that have left City include Ben Chadwick, who was the Manchester club’s former head of analysis, moving to take up the same role over at the Emirates, further bolstering the support staff around the squad and building up Arteta’s perfect empire.

Plenty of endorsements

There is no shortage of confidence from the Arsenal support base For Arteta being the right person to lead them to their first title in over two decades. One such person who thinks he is the right man to lead them to glory is former Arsenal legend Ray Parlour, who believes they have a strong squad, but they are still a few signings short of having the team that can really pose a threat to Manchester City and take the title back down south for the first time in several years. Specifically, he has highlighted the need for Arsenal to sign a goalscorer, using the analogy that if they had signed Haaland, they would have won the title, which is what they are missing.

It is going to be interesting to see if Arsenal, or indeed, any team, can knock Manchester City off the podium they’ve occupied for the last four years in a row, a record-setting stint. However, if there is any team that has demonstrated consistent improvement over the past few years and the fact that they have the stamina to go all the way to the end of the season, giving City a solid fight, then it is Arsenal, so we will see as the season develops this season just how much they have improved and if they have got what it takes to lift the Premier League title.
