Following a heavy defeat against South Africa, Sri Lanka is all set to bounce back when they face off against Bangladesh tomorrow at Grand Prairie Stadium. The two teams are having a difficult time in cricket, but this match could decide who will qualify from Group D.

Since Sri Lanka already lost their first match, a win will take Bangladesh closer to the next stage in the World Cup. But Bangladesh has been very inconsistent in the recent series. They have lost a three-match T20 series against the host, The United States. After that, Bangladesh lost to India in the warm-up match before the World Cup.

Bangladesh Cricket Team faces relentless criticism on social media due to their poor performance in recent matches. But Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto doesn’t want to think about it.

Shanto said, “Look, the audiences will have their expectations, and they want us to play good cricket. And we want to show Bangladesh people how good we can perform.”

“I think everyone prepared well. The build-up series didn’t go well, batters didn’t find runs, but tomorrow is a new day. We don’t know who might perform or make the team win,” stated the captain in the pre-match press conference.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka were not happy with the pitch they played against South Africa. They also complained about it to the ICC. However, the Lankan batting coach hopes to get a better wicket for tomorrow’s game against Bangladesh.

“We watched a lot of matches on television, and from the morning we watched the match here. So, I think it will be better than the wicket we had in New York. But we mostly get used pitches, and there will be a challenge tomorrow. We have already discussed it, and we are well prepared for it,” said the Lankan batting coach.

Team News

Sri Lankan batting coach Thilina Kandamby said that they will not change the squad that lost to South Africa. But according to reports, Dushmantha Chameera is likely to get into the playing XI. Therefore,  Nuwan Thushara or Maheesh Theekshana could be ruled out from the starting XI.

As for Bangladesh, pacer Taskin Ahmed has returned to the squad following his hamstring injury. He picked up this injury during the Zimbabwe series. However, selector Ashraf Hossain Lipu confirmed that Taskin is back and could play tomorrow. He said, “The good news is, Taskin is bowling today and the feedback I got a while ago, hopefully he will be able to play against Sri Lanka if there are no other disruptions to his rehabilitation.”

Unfortunately, pacer Shoriful Islam will not play tomorrow against Sri Lanka. He picked up an injury during the warm-up match against India and has not recovered yet.
