Zimbabwe had a decent start
Losing the toss, Zimbabwe started their batting innings with Joylord Gumbie and skipper Craig Ervine. Both openers were very defensive from the start of the game. However, they picked up 63 runs together in the opening partnership. Their partnership was looking good, but Joylord Gumbie departed the crease in the 15.3 over after being LBW. Before leaving the pitch, Gumbie scored 26 from 50 balls. Unfortunately, the following two batters couldn't contribute much. Besides, captain Craig Ervine was heading towards a half-century but missed only for three runs. He lost his wicket to Roston Chase after scoring 47 runs. After that, the host was under tremendous pressure. But Sikandar Raza came up to rescue the team. With Ryan Burl, Raza made a brilliant partnership of 87 runs to handle the disaster. Sikandar Raza scored the highest 68 off 58 balls, while Ryan Burl added 50 runs before losing the wicket. Unfortunately, the remaining batters couldn't contribute enough. As a result, Zimbabwe ended their innings with 268 runs, losing all the wickets.West Indies started well but couldn't continue
Chasing a small target, West Indies had an aggressive start depending on Brandon King and Kyle Mayers. King was more aggressive than Mayers. But, Brandon King couldn't stay long on the crease. He lost his wicket after smashing one six and two fours in 12 balls. Johnson Charles, the following batter, also failed to stay long. But Kyle Mayers made a brilliant partnership with Shai Hope, which was moving the team toward the target. Together they picked up 64 runs on the scoreboard. However, Zimbabwe took control of the match after picking up Kyle Mayers in the 20.2 overs. Mayers scored the highest 56 runs for the Caribbean. After that, Sikandar Raza picked up the big fish, Shai Hope, in the 23.3 over. Nicolas Pooran and Roston Chase tried hard to chase the target but failed. Pooran scored 34, while Roston Chase added 44 runs before losing their wickets. The remaining batters couldn't score enough runs to win the match. It was all over in 233 runs, which meant Zimbabwe won by 33 runs. Tendai Chatara picked up three wickets of West Indies, while Sikandar Raza, Richard, and Muzarabani got two wickets for each.Related reading
