It was not long ago that the Manchester United board looked for new managers. But Erik Ten Hag managed to convince the owners after he won the FA Cup. Finally, Manchester United agreed to extend his contract for two more years, and Ten Hag looked safe.
It is another new season, but Man United remain the same under Erik Ten Hag. Losing three of the first six games, Manchester United stand in 12th with only 7 points. They welcomed Tottenham Hotspur last night at Old Trafford, where the Spurs humiliated the Red Devils by a 3-0 margin. Furthermore, Manchester United lost two consecutive home games in the Premier League, with the same 3-0 scoreline against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Match Report
Erik Ten Hag set up the team formation with 4-2-3-1, where Joshua Zirkzee played in the center of the attack with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho playing in the two flanks.
Without captain Son Heung-min, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou played his team in a 4-3-3 formation, where Dominic Solanke led the attack.
Tottenham Hotspur were extremely aggressive from the start and they needed only three minutes to take the lead. It was Micky van de Ven who made a brilliant run from the midfield and entered inside the box before he passed the ball to Brennan Johnson. Brennan Johnson just tapped in to break the deadlock in just three minutes.

Tottenham Hotspur kept pressing the home side and had several chances, while Man United struggled to keep the possession at Old Trafford. Moreover, the Red Devils had gone under tremendous pressure when captain Bruno Fernandes received a red card for his aggressive tackle on James Maddison before half-time.
Like the first half, Tottenham Hotspur scored the second goal at the very beginning of the second half. Dejan Kulusevski made it 0-2 with a clever finish.
Manchester United looked broken after conceding the second goal, while the Spurs got their third goal when Dominic Solanke scored from a corner kick in the 77th minute. As a result, the Spurs secured all three points from Old Trafford by winning against Man United with a 0-3 margin.
Ten Hag Under Pressure!
Once again, pressure is rising on Erik Ten Hag. They had lost against Liverpool at Old Trafford and then against Spurs. Moreover, Man United failed to score a single goal in any of those two matches while conceding six!
Ten Hag was asked if he feels pressure after losing the match. The manager said, “I’m not thinking about this. I think we all made, in togetherness, this decision to stay together, as an ownership, as a leadership group, in the summer. And also, we made the decision from a clear review, what we have to improve as an organization and how also we want to construct a squad.”
“We are all on one page, one boat, together, the ownership, the leadership group, the staff and players group as well. I don’t have that concern,” stated Erik Ten Hag.
