Match Report
Newcastle United welcomed Man City last night at St James' Park, aiming to end their three-match losing streak. Therefore, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe deployed his best possible XI against the Citizens. Howe set up the team formation with 4-3-3, where Alexander Isak led the attack with Anthony Gordon and Almiron. On the other hand, City boss Pep Guardiola played his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Since Erling Haaland was injured, Julian Alvarez played in the center. However, Kevin De Bruyne was on the bench in the first half. However, the game started with Newcastle United finding the net in just two minutes. But Sean Longstaff's early goal was ruled out due to an offside. Man City, after that, settled down on the crease and created a lot of chances. As a result, the Citizens got the lead when Bernardo Silva scored a brilliant goal in the 26th minute with the help of Kyle Walker. But Newcastle United didn't take much time to find the equalizer. Striker Alexender Isak netted the ball in the 35th minute to level the scoreline at St James' Park. The goal was a massive boost for the home side, leading them to score another. This time, Anthony Gordon found the net within two minutes with a fantastic curl. His shot beat City's goalkeeper to find the back of the net. The two teams, however, got tons of chances but failed to convert. As a result, it seemed the match would end in a 2-2 tie. But the drama started when Pep Guardiola deployed Kevin De Bruyne in the 70th minute, replacing Bernado Silva. De Bruyne scored within only four minutes as he found the net in the 74th minute to level the scoreline. After that, the visitors continuously press the home side in the remaining minute. De Bruyne, however, showed his trademark cross in injury time, leading Oscar Bobb to score the 3rd goal. This goal secured all three points for Man City as they defeated Newcastle United by a 3-2 margin.Related reading
