Manchester United hasn't won a single league title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. Since the departure of Sir Alex, Manchester United have changed five managers, from David Moyes, Jose Mourinho to Ralf Rangnick. But none of them earned a league title for the Red Devils. However, Man United have appointed Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag last year. Man United have done well in their first season under Erik Ten Hag, finishing the league in third. Erik Ten Hag takes Manchester United back to the UEFA Champions League and has won silverware after a long five years, the Carabao Cup. But Erik Ten Hag believes Man United needs more quality signings to fight for the league title. After the defeat against Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup, manager Ten Hag said, "I have only one plan and that is to improve this club and improve this team, and that I will fight for. I have my ideas but also I have to work with my staff and my players to do better." It is thought that Man United will sign at least three or four players in this summer transfer window. But as of now, they only completed the signing of Mason Mount. There are many things Manchester United need to fix before the new season starts.

Number Nine

Manchester United's top priority has been a genuine No.9. English captain Harry Kane was a top target for Erik Ten Hag. But it is very unlike that Man United could sign him this summer. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has publicly stated that he is not considering selling Kane. Although Kane has entered the final year of his contract with the Spurs, Levy is pushing hard to renew his contract. German giant Bayern Munich have shown heavy interest in signing Harry Kane. They already made an official bid of Є70m, which Tottenham rejected immediately. Therefore, it becomes complicated for Man United to sign Harry Kane. However, Manchester United are interested in Atalanta's young striker Rasmus Højlund. According to some reports, Man United's first bid of Є35m for Rasmus Højlund was rejected. The transfer guru Fabrizio Romano denied the rumors, saying Manchester United never sent an official offer.

Goalkeeper

David De Gea's contract has expired with Manchester United. As of now, Man United haven't renewed the contract with the No.1. Besides, Manchester United are trying to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan. Manager Erik Ten Hag wants to create competition in the No.1 position. That is why he never guaranteed David De Gea as the first-choice Goalkeeper despite backing him in public. On the other hand, Dean Henderson has returned to the club after completing the loan at Nottingham Forest. Manchester United need to fix their goalkeeping issue before the new season starts.

Players to exit

Manchester United are also looking to offload some players. Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe already left the club after their contract expired. The Red Devils want to sell Brandon Williams, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles, Anthony Elanga, and Donny van de Beek in this transfer window.
