In an exciting encounter at Camp Nou, Barcelona comfortably defeated Sevilla 5-1, securing their place at the top of the table. Hansi Flick’s side showcased their dominance from start to finish, while Sevilla struggled to keep pace despite a late consolation goal. The victory keeps Barcelona three points ahead of Real Madrid, with the team now sitting at 27 points, while Sevilla remain in 13th place with 12 points.

Match Report

Barca boss Hansi Flick set up the team formation with 4-2-3-1, playing Robert Lewandowski in the center of the attack with Ansu Fati, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal behind him. Meanwhile, Sevilla boss Garcia Pimienta also used the same formation to face against Barcelona.

However, the home team was very aggressive and took control of the game from the opening whistle. The home side applied constant pressure, and it paid off in the 24th minute. Sevilla midfielder Gerard Fernández fouled Raphinha inside the box, awarding Barcelona a penalty kick. However, Robert Lewandowski calmly converted a penalty, putting Barcelona in front.

Just four minutes later, young star Pedri doubled the lead with a well-taken goal. Lamine Yamal set up the goal for the Spaniard, who made the scoreline 2-0 in the 28th minute.

In addition, Lewandowski wasn’t finished yet. In the 39th minute, he grabbed his second goal of the night with the help of Raphina. By halftime, Barcelona were firmly in control with a 3-0 lead and went to the break.

In the second half, Sevilla tried to mount a comeback, but Barcelona’s defense, led by their solid backline, held firm. Flick’s team continued to dominate possession and created several more chances. It wasn’t until the 82nd minute that Barcelona found their fourth goal, with Pablo Torre coming off the bench in the 76th minute to score from close range. Torre added a second just six minutes later, making it 5-0 and sealing the victory.

Sevilla managed to pull one back in the 87th minute when Stanis Idumbo scored a consolation goal, but it was too little, too late for Garcia Pimienta’s side. Despite this goal, Sevilla never looked like threatening Barcelona’s commanding lead.

With this convincing win, Barcelona remain on top of the league with 27 points, while Sevilla’s struggles continue as they sit in 13th place with 12 points.

“I am really happy, the only negative is the goal we conceded. Today, there is time to celebrate the victory but tomorrow we will start to think about the next game against Bayern,” talked Barca boss Hansi Flick in the post-match press conference.
