As it happened
Last night, France hosted the Netherlands at Stade de France to play the Euro Qualifiers. It was the first game for both sides after the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. It was also the first game for Ronald Koeman, who was appointed as the head coach of the Netherlands. However, France boss Didier Deschamps played his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation. He deployed Kolo Muani as the center forward, while Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, and Kingsley Coman played just behind the striker. On the other hand, Ronald Koeman set up his team formation with 4-3-3. The game started with France scoring a very early goal. The home side found the net in just two minutes as Antoine Griezmann netted the ball with the help of Kylian Mbappe. The Dutches were surprised again as they conceded the 2nd goal within seven minutes. Defender Dayot Upamecano found the net this time from Griezmann's free-kick. Following that, the Netherlands completely lost their pace and played recklessly. They kept more possession but failed to make an organized attack. Besides, France got their third goal within the first half. The third one came from the captain's end as Kylian Mbappe scored that goal in the 21st minute. The Netherlands failed to score a single goal in the first half, so the first half ended 3-0. Returning from the break, the Dutches tried to control the match, creating some chances. But France defended very well and didn't concede any goals. Kylian Mbappe completed his brace at the very last moment of the match. In the 88th minute, Mbappe scored his 2nd goal to make the scoreline 4-0. However, The Netherlands had a chance to return a goal before the final whistle, but Memphis Depay missed the penalty. In the end, France won this match with a great 4-0 margin.Related reading
