It’s been a crazy night in the UEFA Champions League. Against all odds, giants Real Madrid and Manchester City lost in their respective games last night in the Champions League. Real Madrid lost to AC Milan at Santiago Bernabeu, while Man City were humiliated by Sporting CP away from home.
Real Madrid 1-3 AC Milan
At Santiago Bernabeu, Italian giant AC Milan were very aggressive from the start and stunned the home team early in the game. Defender Malik Thiaw converted Pulisic’s corner into a goal with a header to break the deadlock for AC Milan in the 12th minute. However, Real Madrid did not take much time to react, and it leveled the scoreline within a few moments as Vinicius Jr scored from a penalty kick in the 23rd minute.
AC Milan, on the other hand, seemed strongly determined last night and created many chances. They took the lead again as Alvaro Morata found the back of the net in the 39th minute. Fans hoped Real Madrid would make a comeback after the break, but it never happened!
The Rossonerri remained very compact in the second half and one more goal against Real Madrid. Midfielder Tijjani Reijnders made the scoreline 3-1 with a brilliant finish in the 73rd minute. Although Rudiger scored one for Real Madrid, it was ruled out due to offside. In the end, AC Milan secured a dominating 3-1 win over Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu.
Sporting CP 4-1 Man City
Sporting CP humiliated Manchester City last night. But the start was completely different in this match as Manchester City took the lead at the very beginning of the game. Phil Foden gave an early lead when he scored with a stunning shot in just four minutes.
Sporting CP were very committed and continued creating chances. But it took 38 minutes to find the equalizer for the home side when striker Viktor Gyokeres scored with the help of Quenda.
The scenario started changing from the start of the second half when the home side took the lead first with a goal from Maximiliano Araujo in the 46th minute! The second goal was a massive boost for Sporting CP, leading them to score more.
They got another chance when Gvardiol fouled Trincao inside the box, resulting in a penalty kick for the CP. Viktor Gyokeres came forward and made no mistake to make the scoreline 3-1 in the 49th minute.
However, Man City had a massive chance to come back in this match when they won a penalty kick. But Earling Haaland missed the penalty kick and hit the post!
On the other hand, Sporting CP won another penalty kick when Matheus Nunes fouled Catamo inside the box. Striker Viktor once again took the spot kick and scored to complete his hat trick in the 80th minute. Manchester City could not score more in the remaining minutes, resulting in Sporting CP securing a historical 4-1 win over Manchester City.
