Quick Navigation
Inter Miami will face Tigres UANL tomorrow in one of the most exciting matches of the 2025 Leagues Cup quarterfinals. The game will be played at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. Both teams arrive with strong ambitions, and fans can expect an intense battle for a spot in the semifinals.
For Inter Miami, the stakes are especially high. The team has shown good form in the competition, and their last performance against LA Galaxy proved their attacking quality. Luis Suárez, Rodrigo De Paul, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba have all been key figures. The big question, however, is whether Lionel Messi will play. The Argentine star has been dealing with a muscle injury and missed training with the full squad earlier this week. Head coach Javier Mascherano has not ruled him out completely, but his availability will likely be decided close to kick-off.
Miami boss Mascherano said, “Leo didn’t train with the group; he trained separately. It was a bit of a situation where he felt comfortable after the 45 minutes he played. We’ll see how things are going throughout the day, but it’s not ruled out. I can’t say whether he’ll play or not; it depends on how he feels.”
Tigres UANL, on the other hand, arrive with plenty of experience and confidence. The Mexican side is one of the strongest clubs in Liga MX, and they know how to handle pressure in big knockout games. Ángel Correa has been in excellent form, while Juan Brunetta has impressed with his assists and vision. Tigres also have a balanced squad with solid defenders and experienced midfielders who can make life difficult for Miami’s stars.
Miami boss Javier Mascherano knows it will be a difficult game for them. Yet he is confident of winning this match even if Messi can not play. “It’s a team with a lot of offensive power. I’m one of those coaches who, beyond focusing on the characteristics of the players depending on the match, believe that defensively we have to defend system-wise. It doesn’t depend on one or two players as a team. It won’t change from what we’ve been doing, and the goal is to neutralize Tigres,” stated Mascherano.
Team News
Lionel Messi had a hamstring injury, but he recovered and played in the second half against LA Galaxy and scored a goal. However, Messi is not 100% fit, so it will be interesting to see whether the Argentine superstar starts against Tigres UANL tomorrow. Summer signing Rodrigo de Paul has already started showing his skills for Inter Miami. He will start tomorrow, along with Sergio Busquets, in the midfield.
As for Tigres, Bernardo Parra is in doubt ahead of the match. If he misses the match, Juan Brunetta and Fernando Gorriaran will lead the midfield for the Tigres.
Possible Lineup for Inter Miami:
Rios Novo; Weigandt, Lujan, Falcon, Alba; Bright, Busquets; Tadeo Allende, De Paul, Segovia; Suarez
Possible Lineup for Tigres:
Guzman; Aquino, Zwarg, Sanchez, Garza; Brunetta, Gorriaran; Lainez, Correa, Herrera; Gigna
Prediction: Inter Miami 2-1 Tigres
Predictions for the game are difficult because both sides are packed with talent. If Messi is fit and plays a major role, Miami might have the advantage at home. Without him, Tigres could take control, as they have more balance across the pitch and plenty of knockout experience. Many analysts expect a close, high-scoring contest, with both teams likely to find the net.
