Quick Navigation
The Carabao Cup is all set to feature a high-voltage match tonight when Tottenham Hotspur welcome Manchester City at Spurs Stadium. Manchester City, as always, are the favorite in the Premier League and leading the point table with 23 points after nine matches. Additionally, the Citizens are the only team in the Premier League that has not lost a game yet.
On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur are struggling this season like they did in the previous year. The Spurs have already suffered four defeats in their first nine league matches and stand in 8th with 13 points. However, the Postecoglou boys are confident as the cup games are different from the league matches, and everyone has a chance to win.
Besides, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is also under pressure as his side is not progressing well. Following Monday’s sacking of Erik Ten Hag at Man United, Ange Postecpglou was asked whether he was feeling any pressure.
“I’ve said in the past that it’s becoming more and more difficult to do the role in any sort of processed way,” replied Ange. He added, “Everyone tells me all I have to do is win a trophy. As a manager, you’ve got to hit a sweet spot of success, playing football everyone likes and getting every signing right. It is a difficult task, but what you’ve seen in the past, I’m sure Erik will bounce back, he’s a good manager.”
Team News
Spurs captain Son Heung-min has been struggling with injuries since the start of the season. He had recovered and returned to the squad but picked up another thigh injury, which has kept him out of the team. However, Ange made the debut of 17-year-old Mike Moore in the match against Crystal Palace on Sunday. Moore is also expected to play tonight against the Premier League champions.
As for Manchester City, they are having a very tight fixture. So Pep Guardiola is likely to rotate his squad, giving the academy players a chance. Kaden Braithwaite and Nico O’Reilly are the favorites to play in the starting XI, while Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker remain out of the squad due to their injuries.
Possible Lineup for Tottenham Hotspur:
Forster; Gray, Dragusin, Davies, Udogie; Sarr, Bentancur, Maddison; Werner, Johnson, Richarlison
Possible Lineup for Man City:
Ortega; Lewis, Stones, Braithwaite, Ake; O’Reilly; Savio, McAtee, Gundogan, Nunes; Foden
Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Man City
Tottenham Hotspur are not a consistent side in this season. As the home team, they will have the advantage against Man City, but Man City are still the favorite based on their excellent form. Although Man City will be playing with a young squad, they have the ability to beat Tottenham Hotspur tonight.
