Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel on the 8th of July organized its seventh anniversary. Moreover, just as the anniversary functions concluded, the owners also made a big announcement on a $275 million expansion project for the casino & hotel. This expansion is aimed at doubling the space of the hotel & casino. Additionally, the constructions currently cover an area of 311,011 square feet, but the proposed new buildings will cover an additional 315,158 square feet. Newer add-ons in the expansion include a new space for gaming, a restaurant on the rooftop, and a deck for parking. As for the company for this expansion project, Whiting-Turner has been selected. Lumpy Lambert, general manager of Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River, mentioned that this expansion has been in their plans for the last few years.
The overall expansion is easily expected to increase the size of the space for gaming as well as add a new tower with as many as 296 rooms. The overall cost of this project is estimated at $250 million. This is almost double that of the original property. This expanded space for gaming will also have 400 new slot machines, 12 new table-based games, a new 10-table poker room, a new bar, and a motor-coach lobby. Additionally, an indoor pool is also added with a fitness center, a lobby, and a 20,000-square-foot room for various occasions. Lambert, the general manager also mentioned that the best part of the add-ons has to be the 1,600-seat venue for entertainment which will be the host for different touring acts.
This project should be completed by 2024. Overall, this is a very ambitious project but the main aim of this expansion is to make Valley River Casino & Hotel one of the best casinos in the state.
