Super Sunday in the English Premier League witnessed two great games today, where Brighton stunned Pep Guardiola’s Man City and Liverpool took all three points from Arsenal after an intense match. Now Liverpool are leading the point table with 9 points from the first three games, while Manchester City stand at 13th after two defeats and one win only.

Brighton Defeated Man City

After losing to Tottenham Hotspur last week, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City were desperate to get back on the winning track when they play against Brighton today at the Amex Stadium. Man City, as usual, tried to dominate from the start by keeping more possession. They also got the lead before going to the break, as Erling Haaland scored in his 100th game for Man City.

However, the scenario began to change in the second half, particularly after Man City conceded a penalty, and James Milner equalized in the 67th minute. “We forgot to play [after the penalty]. We decided to play direct, fine, but you have to be ready – be there,” stated Pep Guardiola in his post-match press conference.

The goal was a massive boost for the home side, which inspired them to go on an all-out attack in the remaining minutes. Their strong mentality paid off when Brajan Gruda scored a brilliant goal in the dying moments. He scored the late winner in the 89th minute with the help of Mitoma. Man City, however, tried their best to score again but failed. In the end, Brighton secured very important three points at the Amex Stadium as well as their first league win of this season.

Szoboszlai’s Stunner Broke Arsenal

After the departure of Alexander Arnold, fans were curious who would replace him. But instead of signing, Arne Slot decided to deploy Dominik Szoboszlai as the right-back, and the player did not disappoint. When everyone was expecting a draw after both teams failed to score in 80 minutes, Dominik Szoboszlai came forward and scored an unbelievable goal from a free-kick in the 83rd minute to secure all three points at Anfield.

“An unbelievable game from him[Szoboszlai] in a position he probably played only two or three times in his life. So, that tells you a lot about the mentality he has. But he played really well, as he played so many times so well as an attacking midfielder also,” stated Arne Slot.

Szoboszlai also talked about his magical free-kick after the match. He said, “Well, luckily since we started the season we could practise some free-kicks. I felt this was a little bit further. I was like, ‘I’ll take a risk.’ I was confident in myself so I tried it. Finally!”
