Arsenal’s title hope is almost over after losing against Man City last night. Last night, Manchester City hosted Arsenal at Etihad Stadium, where the home team smashed the Gunners with four goals. As a result, Manchester City are now only two points behind Arsenal with two games in their hand.

As it happened

Arsenal have been doing great this season but lost the tempo at the end of the season. They were winless in their last three games. Therefore, Manchester City had a massive opportunity last night to get closer to the table topper.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola deployed his best possible Xi against the Gunners at Etihad Stadium. He set up the team formation with 4-3-3, where Erling Haaland led the frontline with Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva. On the other hand, Mikel Arteta also played Arsenal with a 4-3-3 formation.

The match started with Manchester City highly pressing the visitors. Due to their high press, Man City got an early lead as Kevin De Bruyne scored a fantastic goal with Haaland’s assist in the 7th minute. After that, Arsenal tried really hard to find the equalizer, but Man City’s defense was rock solid and didn’t concede any goals in the first half. Moreover, the home team doubled their lead just before the half-time break. Defender John Stones converted De Bruyne’s cross into a goal with a powerful header in the 45+2th minute.

Conceding two goals in the first half, Arsenal couldn’t fight back in the second half. Besides, Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland were ruthless and kept creating chances. Therefore, Man City didn’t have to wait much to find the net in the 2nd half. Kevin de Bruyne once again scored for Man City as he found the net in the 54th minute.

It seemed Haaland would go without scoring in this match. But the goal machine found the net at the very last moment. In the 95th minute, Haaland scored the fourth goal of the match for Man City. Moreover, Haaland broke a Premier League record with this goal. Haaland overtakes Mohammad Salah to set a new record for the most goal [33 goals in 31 matches] in a 38-game Premier League season.

However, defender Rob Holding returned a goal for the Gunner. But it helped nothing to avoid the defeat at Etihad Stadium. Therefore, Man City secured a crucial victory by a 4-1 margin against Arsenal, which takes them only two points behind Arsenal.
