Ruben Amorim continues to defeat Pep Guardiola’s Man City. Amorim humiliated Pep Guardiola in the UEFA Champions League with Sporting CP just before he joined Manchester United. Once again, the Portuguese manager beat Guardiola’s side but with Manchester United.

Match Report

Man City welcomed Manchester United last night at Etihad Stadium. It was a crucial game for both teams as they were not on a good run in the Premier League. Following the defeat against Juventus in the Champions League, Man City were desperate to bounce back last night against Man United.

Man United, on the other hand, needed a win to boost up in the league. But Ruben Amorim made a bold decision by not including two of Man United’s star players, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, against Man City.

It made a massive controversy, but Amorim said,It is important to say why. It was not a disciplinary thing – next week, next game, new life. They are fighting for the places, but for me, it’s important for me the performance in training, the performance in game, the way you dress, the way you eat, the way you engage with the team-mates, the way you push your team-mates.”

However, Man City tried hard to get an early lead, but Man United were really compact inside the box. But the Red Devils have been struggling against set pieces, and that is what exactly happened last night at Etihad. Once again, Man United conceded a goal when Josko Gvardiol scored with a header in the 36th minute.

Despite getting plenty of chances, the two teams failed to score in the first half. The second half was also quite similar, but the entire scenario started to change in the final three minutes. Man United got a massive opportunity when City defender Nunes fouled Amad Diallo inside the box, giving a penalty kick to Man United.

Bruno Fernandes stepped forward to take the spot kick and did not mistake this crucial chance to level the scoreline in the 88th minute. Man City, meanwhile, became vulnerable after conceding the goal and made many mistakes in the remaining minutes.

Amad stole the show when he scored the late winner, converting Lisandro Martinez long pass into a winning goal. Amad brilliantly dribbled past Ederson and two other defenders and scored this golden goal to beat Man City at Etihad Stadium.

“I think we did a great job, we controlled Manchester City very well. We didn’t allow much, of course we don’t create so much either, said Amorim in the post-match press conference.

The manager stated,Amad did a great job but now let’s be careful with Amad, don’t do the same mistakes that we did in the past with younger guys and let’s push him down a little bit, praise him, but the next game is a new story. He must continue to work hard.”

On the other hand, Pep Guardiola is having the toughest time in his entire managerial career. He said, I knew it would be a tough season, even when we were winning, but I didn’t expect it to be so hard like it is right now. In the past maybe I could presume we could win with two minutes left but in the situation we are in, I never thought about that.”
