Quick Navigation
After a long international break, the English Premier League will return on April 1st with a massive clash. The league will restart with a match between the two heavyweights, Manchester City and Liverpool. This time, Manchester City will host the All Reds at Etihad Stadium with aiming to close the gap between the table topper, Arsenal. On the other hand, Liverpool’s all efforts are to get into the top four.
Stats & Facts
Liverpool have been struggling since the start of the season. With 42 points, the All-Reds are in 6th at the league table. Moreover, the away records for the Klopp boys are really poor this season. Liverpool earned only 12 points from their 13 away games, while they got 30 points in home games.
On the other side, Manchester City have a strong home record against Liverpool. Manchester City have never lost a home game against Liverpool under the manager, Pep Guardiola. The last time Liverpool won at Etihad was in 2015 when Manuel Pelligrini was Man City’s manager.
Anyway, Manchester City are eight points behind the table topper, Arsenal, with one game in hand. The Citizens have only 11 matches remaining in the league. Therefore, Man City can’t afford to points if they want to win the league.
Team News
Man City have a massive blow ahead of the match against Liverpool. Since Phil Foden had appendicitis surgery recently, he will not be able to participate. But the most concerning matter for Man City is Haaland’s injury. Haaland has already scored 28 goals in the league and has become the trump card for Pep Guardiola. But he got a knock during the match against Burnley and missed Norway’s match during the international break. However, Pep Guardiola will reveal the team news tomorrow.
As for Liverpool, young midfielder Stefan Bajcetic will miss the rest of the season due to a groin injury. Luis Diaz and Thiago Alcantara are the long absentees for the Reds, but Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo are available for this clash.
