The last El Clasico of the season is ready to take place tonight when league leader Real Madrid welcome Barcelona at the iconic Santiago Bernabeu. It is a must-win match for Barcelona to stay alive in the title race. The Catalan clubs are in 2nd with eight points behind Real Madrid. They can go closer to the Los Blancos if they win tonight’s El Clasico at Santiago Bernabeu. Meanwhile, it is also a great chance for Real Madrid to extend their lead at the top of the table. A win over Barcelona would get them closer to the league title.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona were in Champions League action during the weekend. Real Madrid survived as they defeated Manchester City on penalties to secure their place in the semifinal. But Barcelona were not lucky to go through. Despite winning the first leg, they failed to qualify for the semifinal as Paris Saint Germain smashed them in the second leg to reach the next round.

However, FC Barcelona have been struggling against Real Madrid this season. They have not won any of their El Clasico this season yet. Additionally, Real Madrid have won three of their last five El Clasicos, including their most recent 4-1 win against Barcelona in the Super Copa.

Since Barcelona are out of all competitions, only La Liga is their only chance to get a trophy this season. However, Barca boss Xavi Hernandez is confident to win tonight’s El Clasico. “We know how to beat Real Madrid. We know them and we have analyzed the mistakes we made the last time we faced each other,” Xavi said in the press conference.

Team News

Real Madrid are still missing Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba due to their respective injury. Vinicius Junior and Dani Carvajal missed Real Madrid’s dramatic win over Manchester City last week because of their injury, but the pair has recovered and is ready to play against Barcelona tonight. Additionally, Aurelien Tchouameni is also available for the selection following his European suspension.

As for Barcelona, they have a massive boost with the return of Andre Christensen and Sergio Roberto, who were absent during their defeat against Paris Saint Germain. But Gavi and Alejandro Balde are still out of the squad due to their respective injury.

Possible Lineup for Real Madrid:

Lunin; Carvajal, Rudiger, Tchouameni, Mendy; Valverde, Camavinga, Kroos; Bellingham; Vinicius, Rodrygo

Possible Lineup for Barcelona:

Ter Stegen; Kounde, Araujo, Cubarsi, Cancelo; Gundogan, Christensen, F de Jong; Pedri, Lewandowski, Raphinha

Prediction: Real Madrid 2-1 Barcelona

Real Madrid humiliated Barcelona in their last meeting. The Los Blancos are also very much motivated following their win against Man City last week. Additionally, Santiago Bernabeu has always been a difficult place for the opponents. Therefore, Real Madrid have a better chance tonight to extend their lead at the top of the table and should win against Barcelona.
