Making a comeback has been a common phenomenon for Real Madrid. The Los Blancos can change the entire scenario in just the final ten minutes, and that is what exactly happened last night in the second leg of the Champions League semifinal.

Following a thrilling 2-2 draw in the first leg against Bayern Munich, both teams needed a win last night in the second leg to reach the final. Bayern had a great chance as they were in the lead until the 87th minute. But Real Madrid changed the momentum in the final two minutes and returned two magical goals to eliminate Bayern Munich and book their place in the final.

As It Happened

Real Madrid have always been a dominant side at Santiago Bernabeu, and last night was no exception. The Los Blancos were very aggressive from the start and took control of the midfield. Real Madrid could have scored a few goals in the first half, but Manuel Neuer was at his best(!) and made some tremendous saves.

In the end, the first half ended in a goalless draw as both sides failed to find the net.

Coming from the break, Bayern Munich showed their hunger and created some chances. Alphonso Davies, who came off the bench in the 30th minute, stunned the entire Santiago Bernabeu with his beautiful finish that defeated Lunin and found the back of the net in the 68th minute.

It seemed Bayern Munich would win this match as the Los Blancos couldn’t break their defense. But the magical moment came for Real Madrid in the dying minutes when Manuel Neuer made a great mistake! Neuer was brilliant for the entire match but bottled in the very last moment.

Vinicius Junior took a shot from a distance, which Manuel Neuer stopped initially but dropped the ball into the ground. Joselu, coming off the bench in the 81st minute, was wise and close enough to get the ball and convert it into a goal!

The entire stadium had gone wild as the fans and the atmosphere were very electric. After that, Real Madrid showed their usual character and put Bayern Munich under tremendous pressure. They highly pushed the Bavarians and earned a golden goal when Joselu completed his brace from Rudiger’s assist. It initially seemed an offside, but the goal was awarded after the VAR check.

Bayern Munich didn’t have enough time to return, although they did score one, which was ruled out due to an offside. In the end, Real Madrid secured the crucial win and reached the final on a 4-3 aggregate.

“It’s happened again. Something that has happened time after time, which is inexplicable, has happened again. A set of fans who drive us, a stadium that supports us, a stunning atmosphere and a group of players who believe. It’s magical. We played well, I think it was a tough game but we had control, we didn’t lose our heads when they scored and we got back into it,” said Carlo Ancelotti after the match.
