The summer transfer window in the English Premier League is now closed. Every club tried their best to strengthen its squad, and among them, Manchester United were one the busiest clubs in the English Premier League.
It has been the first summer transfer window after INEOS purchased a 27.7% stake of Man United. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the owner of INEOS, provided sufficient funds to buy players during the window. This transfer window saw Man United buy Leny Yoro, Matthjis de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee, and Noussair Mazroui.
Additionally, the Red Devils were also very active on the deadline day of the transfer window. Here we will discuss Man United’s deadline day transfer briefly:
Jadon Sancho
Man United signed Jadon Sancho with tons of expectations when Ole Gunner Solskjaer was in charge. But the English winger failed to meet the high expectations at Old Trafford and had personal problems with the current boss Erik Ten Hag. However, the personal issues between Sancho and Ten Hag have been solved after he returned from Borussia Dortmund by completing the loan move.
But Man United remained open for Sancho. They waited for the right proposal to send him away. Many clubs made offers for Sancho, but Manchester United accepted Chelsea’s proposal on loan. Chelsea will pay around £25m for Sancho.
Scott McTominay
Man United’s academy graduate Scott McTominay has left the club. Italian club Napoli has reached an agreement with Man United to sign McTominay with a £25.7m transfer fee. Scott McTominay was promoted to the first team in 2017 under Jose Mourinho and has played 255 games for Manchester United.
“I want to see Manchester United win, I want to see us do really, really well, and I’ll be watching as well. Thank you for having me, and I have enjoyed every minute,” Scott McTominay sends a farewell message to the fans.
Manuel Ugarte
Manchester United have completed the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint Germain. Ugarte, the Uruguan midfielder, has been a long target for Man United since the start of the window. There were more proposals for Ugarte, but he only wanted to join Manchester United.
As soon as Man United reached an agreement with Napoli for Scott McTominay, they started negotiating with PSG for Manuel Ugarte. However, the Red Devils have to pay an initial £42.1m transfer fee with £8.4m in additional payments.
Ugarte shared his feelings about joining the new club. He said, “It is an incredible feeling to join a club of this magnitude; one that is admired all around the world. The project that the football leadership discussed with me is extremely exciting; Manchester United is an ambitious club and I am an ambitious player.”
