VFL Bochum secured a thrilling win by a 3-2 margin against Bayern Munich, resulting in Bayern Munich going eight points behind the table topper.

VFL Bochum welcomed Bayern Munich last night at Vonovia Ruhrstadion, where the manager played his team in a 4-3-3 formation. Before this game, Bochum were winless in their previous three games, including a defeat and two draws. Therefore, they were very determined to get back on the winning track when they hosted Bayern Munich.
Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel, on the other hand, set up his team formation with 4-2-3-1. England’s captain Harry Kane led Bayern’s attack off the back of Jamal Musiala, Choupo-Moting, and Thomas Muller.
As Bayern Munich lost their last two games, they were more than desperate to secure all three points last night against Bochum. From the start, the Bavarians have been playing very aggressively. As a result, the visitors didn’t have to wait much as Jamal Musiala drew the first blood in the 14th minute. This German youngster found the back of the net to put Bayern Munich ahead of the match with the help of Goretzka.
The visitors, indeed, controlled the midfield at Vonovia Ruhrstadion and had plenty of chances. But VFL Bochum defended really well and didn’t concede more goals in the first half. Moreover, the home side got back in the match when Takuma Asano found the equalizer in the 38th minute.
The home side made Bayern Munich speechless just before the half time as they took the lead in the 44th minute. Defender Keven Schlotterbeck scored that goal with a powerful header to put Bochum ahead of Bayern Munich.
Coming back from the break, Bayern Munich had gone crazy to find the leveler. But they failed to break Bochum’s defense for a certain time. In addition, the Bavarians became a ten-man team when Dayot Upamecano received a red card in the 77th minute after he fouled inside Bayern’s box. As a result, the home side got a spot kick from where Kevin Stoger made the scoreline 3-1 in the 78th minute.
However, Harry Kane returned a goal in the 87th minute. But his goal couldn’t avoid the defeat of Bayern Munich. In the end, VFL Bochum secured all three points at their home to go to 11th place in the league table.
Tuchel to be Sacked?
Following Bayern’s three defeats in a row, there have been a lot of rumors about Thomas Tuchel being sacked. However, the board is still not planning to sack the manager as they want to give more time. After the internal discussion, Bayern’s CEO Dreesen confirmed that Tuchel will remain Bayern’s manager for the next game.
Thomas Tuchel is also confident about his job. He said, “If you ask me, I firmly still believe me and coaching staff can turn things around — yes.”
