Arsenal had a great chance to strengthen their position at the top of the table. But the goalless draw against Manchester City has left them two points behind the table topper, Liverpool. Arsenal are now in 2nd with 65 points and have no alternatives to winning each game to stay in the title race.

The Gunners are ready to take on Luton Town tonight at Emirates Stadium, aiming to get back on the winning track. Luton Town, on the other hand, have been struggling in the relegation zone. They had a great fight during the match against Tottenham Hotspur last week, but Spurs captain Son Heung-min scored a late goal to secure Luton’s defeat in the Spurs Stadium.

Stats & Facts

  • Arsenal have already defeated Luton Town back in December. A win for tonight would see them completing the league double over Luton Town for the first time since the 1983-1984 campaign.
  • Arsenal have a fantastic home record against Luton. They have won their last ten games in a row at Emirates Stadium against Luton Town.
  • Luton have conceded at least two goals in each of their previous 11 away meetings with the Gunners.
  • The Gunners have not lost any of their last 38 home games against the promoted teams.

Arteta’s View on Luton

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta shared his thoughts ahead of the match against Luton. He said, “We’re going to be needing even more. It’s after two and a half days. [Luton] are in a really good moment – when you see the games that they have played and even when they haven’t won, they’ve been really tough. We have had some extraordinary results against the other two teams that are, at the moment, leading the table. We are not top so that means that we have missed certain points somewhere else and that’s what we have to put the emphasis on now tomorrow.”

Team News

Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Magalhaes had minor injuries but played the game against Man City. Although Bukayo Saka was taken off early, Arteta explained it was because of fatigue. However, Arteta confirmed that Saka is fit enough to play against Luton Town. Defender Jurrien Timber is the only absentee for the Gunners, as he is suffering from an ACL injury.

As for Luton Town, midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, who joined from Arsenal on loan, is ineligible to play against his parent club. Additionally, they will miss the service of Tom Lockyer, Amari’i Bell, Marvelous Nakamba, Elijah Adebayo, Dan Potts, Mads Andersen, Chiedozie Ogbene, Jacob Brown, Gabriel Osho, Reece Burke, and Alfie Doughty due to their respective injury.

Possible Lineup for Arsenal:

Raya; Tomiyasu, Saliba, Kiwior, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Martinelli, Havertz, Trossard

Possible Lineup for Luton Town:

Kaminski; Kabore, Hashioka, Mengi, Johnson; Mpanzu, Barkley, Clark; Townsend, Morris, Woodrow

Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Luton Town

Arsenal have been flying and are chasing for the league title. Since they have tied the match against Man City, the Gunners are desperate to secure all three points against Luton Town. Besides, Luton are having poor form, and it would be very difficult for them to beat Arsenal at Emirate Stadium.
