Premier League action is back on for Brighton & Hove Albion after their first European experience. Brighton have played the UEFA Europa League match for the very first time in their history on Thursday. Despite conceding two goals early, they successfully returned two and tied the game against Olympic Marseille.

Tomorrow, they will host English giant Liverpool, who also played on Thursday in the same competition and sealed a victory. Liverpool are very desperate to get back on the winning track in the Premier League following their defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

At the same time, it seems Brighton’s HONEYMOON PERIOD is over! They were flying under Roberto de Zerbi, but their recent form is not going well. After being eliminated from the Carabao Cup against Chelsea, Brighton had been humiliated by Aston Villa in the Premier League. Aston Villa ran riot over the Seagulls at Villa Park as they cruised past Brighton by a 6-1 margin.

Stats & Facts

  • Brighton have won only one of their last five games in all competitions, losing three and drawing the remaining one. Moreover, the Seagulls have conceded 13 goals in those five games, while they scored 8.
  • Defense is a massive concern for Roberto de Zerbi. His boys have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 12 games in all competitions.
  • Although Brighton’s recent matches were not at their best, they defeated Liverpool in their last meeting in the previous season. Brighton won by a 3-0 margin against Liverpool back in January.
  • From 2017 to 2020, Liverpool won six matches against Brighton in those three seasons. But since then, Liverpool won only one of their following six games against the Seagulls.

Team News

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has to make some changes from their last Premier League games. Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota were set off during the defeat against Tottenham Hotspur. Therefore, these two players will miss tomorrow’s clash due to their suspension.

Striker Cody Gakpo also got a knock during this game and was forced off in the first half. Jurgen Klopp confirms Gakpo will be out for a few weeks. Klopp said, “He[Gakpo] is already out of the brace, walks normal around, so from all the very, very bad opportunities and possibilities injury-wise, I think he nearly got the best but is still injured.”

However, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, and Conor Bradley remain out of the team as they all are injured.

As for Brighton, defender Estupinan remains injured and unavailable to play. They will also miss the service of Jakub Moder, Julio Enciso, James Milner, and Lalana due to their respective injury.

The Possible Lineup for Brighton:

Verbruggen; Veltman, Dunk, Webster, Lamptey; Gilmour, Gross; March, Pedro, Mitoma; Ferguson

The Possible Lineup for Liverpool:

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Nunez, Diaz

Prediction: Brighton 1-2 Liverpool

Brighton have lost their winning rhythm. At the same time, Liverpool have to face the Seagulls without several players. We expect a very close game between the two sides. However, Mohammad Salah can destroy any team on his day.
