Juventus have a great chance to win silverware this season, as they are on the edge to the final of Coppa Italia. Following their 2-0 win against Lazio in the first-leg semifinal, Juventus are ready to play the second leg tonight at Stadio Olimpico – the home of Lazio.
The title race is over in Serie A after Inter Milan secured the league title following their win against their arch-rival AC Milan. As a result, Juventus are concentrating on both Coppa Italia and securing a place in the Champions League.
In the pre-match press conference against Lazio, Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri revealed their target for this season. He said, “This year we started with two goals: to qualify for next year’s Champions League – we are currently third in the standings – and to win the Coppa Italia. I always say that when you play, the goal must be to go all the way in the competitions, always. Our focus now must be to go all the way in the Coppa Italia.”
However, Massimiliano Allegri knows their match against Lazio won’t be an easy one. “We will find a Lazio side that will play a very aggressive game, having to come back from two goals down. They are changing compared to the team coached by Sarri, they are much more aggressive,” said Allegri.
Team News
Matteo Guendouzi and Mattia Zaccagni, the two players who played the first leg for Lazio, will miss the second leg tonight due to their respective injuries. Lazio will also miss the service of their goalkeeper Ivan Provedel because of his hamstring injury.
Striker Ciro Immobile missed Friday’s match for Lazio and will be assessed ahead of tonight’s game. Additionally, Manuel Lazzari is also uncertain following his injury during the match against Genoa.
As for Juventus, Nicolo Fagioli and Paul Pogba are the long-term absentees due to their suspensions. The Old Lady will also miss the service of Fabio Miretti and Moise Kean because of their injury issues. Juve boss Allegri will surely keep his faith in Vlahovic and Chiesa in the frontline. Allegri said, “Chiesa has always taken part in the team’s most important actions in recent weeks.” However, the Old Lady does not have new injury crises in their squad.
Possible Lineup for Lazio:
Mandas; Marusic, Patric, Romagnoli, Gila; Kamada, Vecino, Alberto; Anderson, Castellanos, Pedro
Possible Lineup for Juventus:
Perin; Gatti, Bremer, Danilo; Cambiaso, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Vlahovic, Chiesa
Prediction: Lazio 1-1 Juventus
Lazio have won their last two games in the league, while Juventus failed to win any of their last two matches. As the home side, Lazio will try their best to recover their 2-0 defeat in the first leg. As Allegri warned, Lazio will be very aggressive against the Old Lady. However, Juventus are on the upper side following their first-leg win. Therefore, it won’t be easy to beat Juventus at Stadio Olimpico.
