Match Report

Bayern Munich welcomed Real Madrid last night to play the first leg of the semifinal. Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel played his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation, where Harry Kane led the frontline on the back of Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane, and Jamal Musiala. Meanwhile, Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti didn’t experiment with the formation, playing his side with a 4-4-2 setup.

The match started with both sides playing aggressive football. Bayern could have taken the lead at the beginning if Lunin hadn’t made a brilliant save of Harry Kane’s shot.

However, it was Real Madrid who broke the deadlock first. Vinicius Junior scored a goal in the 24th minute to put Real Madrid ahead. But all credit should be to the midfield maestro Tony Kroos. Kroos, famous for his passing accuracy, found Vinicius Junior with a mindblowing pass from the midfield, and the Brazil forward didn’t miss that great opportunity to score!

Although Bayern Munich failed to find the equalizer in the first half, they were very desperate in the second half and leveled the scoreline at the start of the second half. It was Leroy Sane who found the back of the net in the 53rd minute from Laimer’s assist. This goal was a huge boost for the Bavarians, leading them to win a penalty within a few minutes.

Madrid defender Lucas Vazquez fouled Jamal Musiala inside the box, which earned a spot kick for the home side. English skipper Harry Kane stepped up to take the shot and made no mistake to make the scoreline 2-1!

When Bayern Munich seemed to be the winner of the first leg, Real Madrid surprised the Allianz Arena in the final ten minutes. They had gone crazy in the last moment, making it difficult for Bayern’s defender to stop them. Bayern defender Kim Min-Jae made a mistake by making a foul to Rodrygo inside the box and conceded a penalty!

Vinicius Junior, the scorer of the first goal, took that spot kick and beat Manuel Nuer to find the net from 12 yards. In the end, the match ended in a thrilling 2-2 tie at Allianz Arena as both sides failed to score more in the remaining minutes.

Now, all eyes are on the second leg, which will be played at Santiago Bernabeu. Can Bayern Munich survive at Santiago Bernabeu in front of thousands of Madrid fans?
