Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp made a sudden announcement back in January. He confirmed that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. Since then, Liverpool have been actively looking for a new manager, and there have been many candidates to become Klopp’s successor at Anfield.

Xabi Alonso, who led Bayer Leverkusen to win their first-ever Bundesliga title, was a strong candidate for Liverpool. But the Spaniard preferred to stay at Leverkusen for one more season.

However, Liverpool have finally got a new manager to replace Klopp. They have agreed with Eredivisie club Feyenoord to appoint Arne Slot as a successor to Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

Arne Slot – The New Manager of Liverpool

Liverpool have made an official move for Arne Slot earlier this week. Finally, Liverpool have reached an agreement with Feyenoord, which will see Feyenoord receive €9m (£7.7m) plus €2m in add-ons for Slot.

Jurgen Klopp, even if he is not involved in the process, also appreciates Arne Slot’s style of coaching. “I am not involved in the process, just to clarify, but if he is the one then I like that he really wants the job. I like the way his team plays football and all the things I hear about him is he’s a good guy. Good coach, good guy. I’m looking forward for the club if he is the man,” Klopp said on Friday.

One day before, Arne Slot declared his desire to join Liverpool. “It seems clear to me that I would like to work there,” Slot told ESPN on Thursday. Finally, it is happening, and the official announcement will be coming very soon.

Who Is Arne Slot?

Arne Slot was a midfielder of the Netherlands. He spent his entire professional career for two Dutch clubs, FC Zwolle and NAC Breda. Slot started his coaching career with PEC Zwolle after retiring from football.

However, Slot’s big move was in 2017 when he joined AZ Alkmaar as an assistant manager. He became the head coach of AZ Alkmaar in 2019 and showed his potential in the very first season. AZ Alkmaar finished the 2019-2020 season in 2nd with the same points as the league winner, Ajax.

He, then, joined Feyenoord in December 2020! But his side were 3rd in the following two successive seasons. Last season was Arne Slot’s best coaching season, as he won his first-ever league title with Feyenoord. Feyenoord lost only two games in Eredivisie last season under Arne Slot to win the league. Feyenoord are in 2nd this season with 75 points.

Anyway, the paperwork is going on between Liverpool and Feyenoord. Personal terms are yet to be done. Once everything is completed, Liverpool will release an official statement on their website.
