Once again, India have defeated their arch-rival Pakistan in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup. Today, they humiliated Pakistan at Narendra Modi Stadium by winning the match by seven wickets. Therefore, India has won all three of their games at this World Cup and remains unbeaten against Pakistan in all eight ICC meetings.

This victory moves India to the top of the table, while Pakistan stand in 4th. England could replace Pakistan if they beat Afghanistan tomorrow.

Toss: Rohiit Sharma, the captain of India, won the toss and opted to bowl first against Pakistan.

Pakistan had a decent start

Pakistan started their batting innings with Imamul Haque and Abdullah Shafique. The two openers made a decent start for Pakistan as they were getting runs. But Mohammad Siraj broke their partnership in the 8th over when he picked up the wicket of Abdullah Shafique.

After that, Imamul Haque tried to make a partnership with the skipper Babar Azam. But they couldn’t go far as Imamul Haque departed the crease after scoring 36 off 38.

However, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan took responsibility and continued ruling Indian bowlers. From 73 to 155, they made a fantastic partnership of 82 runs. Relying on their bats, Pakistan were getting back into the match. But the home side took control of the match by taking those two batters.

The disaster started when Babar Azam lost his wicket to Mohammad Siraj. Babar returned to the pavilion with 50 runs. After that, Indian bowlers continuously take wickets. From 162/4 to 191/10, Pakistan lost six wickets within 29 runs! Five bowlers of India got two wickets for each, resulting in Pakistan becoming all-out in just 191 runs.

Rohit Leads India

Chasing a small target, India lost an early wicket. Shubhman Gill, who returned to the team after an injury, failed to shine against Pakistani bowlers. Pacer Shaheen Afridi got him in the 3rd over, while Virat Kohli also failed to score enough. Kohli returned to the pavilion after scoring only 16.

However, captain Rohit led the team with his fantastic batting. He made a solid partnership of 77 runs with Shreyas Iyer. Both batters got half a century for each. Rohit was heading towards a century but lost the wicket to Shaheen Afridi. However, Rohit Sharma scored the highest 86 runs for Pakistan before leaving the crease.

Anyway, Sreyash Iyer remained unbeaten against Pakistan. His unbeaten 53 off 62 secured a dominating victory against Pakistan by 7 wickets.

Rohit Praised His Bowlers

Indian bowlers were very dominating against Pakistani batters. Therefore, captain Rohit Sharma applauded his bowlers for their unbelievable performance. He said, “The bowlers were the ones today as well who set the game up for us. I don’t think it was a 190-pitch. At one stage we were looking at 280. The way they showed grit says a lot. That is something we pride ourselves in. Whoever gets the ball does the job. We’ve got 6 individuals who can do the job with the ball.”
