The Bangladesh Cricket Team has created history in T20 cricket. They whitewashed the defending champion, England, by winning all three matches in this series. Bangladesh, however, secured the T20 series by winning the first two. Today, they won the third one and completed the clean sweep against the Three Lions.
Toss: Jos Buttler, the captain of England, won the toss and opted to bowl first in the third game.
Bangladesh had a solid start
Bangladesh never had a good start throughout the series. But today, Liton Das and Rony Talukdar brought Bangladesh a solid start against England. Liton was not getting runs in the previous games of this series, but he was on fire today. With Rony Talukdar, Liton Kumar Das made a partnership of 55 runs on the opening wicket.
However, Rony Talukdar lost his wicket in the 8th over after scoring 24 off 22 balls. On the other side, Liton kept scoring runs and made another brilliant partnership with in-form batsman Najmul Shanto. This duo picked up 84 runs together to make a strong basement for the host. Liton Das scored his career-best 73 runs today in T20 cricket. Before leaving the pitch, hit ten boundaries and an over-boundary.
After that, Najmul Hossain Shanto carried the team until the last. He remained not out in 47 runs. Relying on his unbeaten 47, Bangladesh ended their innings with 158 runs.
England looked good but lost the tempo
Chasing the target, England lost an early wicket as Phil Salt had gone duck today. But opener Dawid Malan handled the disaster with the skipper, Jos Buttler. They were leading the team toward the target.
It seemed the match was under England’s control. But everything changed in the 14th over. Bangladeshi bowler Mustafizur Rahman picked up Dawid Malan, who scored the highest 53 for England. In the same over, captain Buttler departed the pitch after being run out by Mehedi Hasan.
After that, the new batters couldn’t contribute match-winning runs. Besides, Bangladeshi bowlers, especially, Mustafiz and Taskin Ahmed, did really well in the death overs, allowing only nine runs in two overs. In the end, England scored 142 runs, resulting in Bangladesh’s historic victory over the Three Lions.
