The Bangladesh Cricket Team is flying in their home series. Today, they secured the three-match T20 series against Ireland by winning the 2nd successive game at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. It was obviously the team’s effort to seak the series, but Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan were the two players who dominated the most today.
However, T20 was one of the weakest formats for Bangladesh as they had poor stats in this format of cricket. But the team has changed completely. After completing the clean sweep against England, Bangladesh also won the series against Ireland and are aiming to complete the whitewash.

Ireland skipper Paul Stirling won the toss and decided to bowl first in the 2nd match. Therefore, Liton Das and Rony Talukdar came into the crease to start the batting innings for Bangladesh. Two in-form batters continued to have their electric form today, destroying Ireland. Liton and Rony Talukdar broke several records for Bangladesh. They scored the fastest team fifty as they hit 50 runs in just 3.3 overs. In addition, Bangladesh chased 100 runs in 7.1 overs, the quickest team century for Bangladesh.
Although Rony Talukdar departed the pitch after scoring 44 off 23 balls, Liton Das kept hitting boundaries. He became the fastest Bangladeshi batsman to hit a half-century from 17 balls, breaking Mohammad Ashraful’s 20 balls fifty. Before losing the wicket, Liton Das scored the highest 83 off 41 balls with three sixes and ten fours. After that, skipper Shakib Al Hasan accelerated the scoreboard with his unbeaten 38 runs. Relying on them, Bangladesh ended their innings with a massive 202 runs.
Shakib and Taskin root out Ireland
Ireland couldn’t even fight due to the aggressiveness of Shakib Al Hasan and Taskin Ahmed. Captain Shakib was literally unplayable for the Irish batters. Shakib took five wickets, the second four-wicket haul for Shakib, to break Ireland’s backbone. Moreover, Shakib has become the leading wicket-taker with today’s fifer, surpassing Tim Southee’s 134 wickets in the T20 format.
After that, pacer Taskin Ahmed joined the attack and took three wickets. However, Curtis Campher tried hard for Ireland. But his hard-fought inning came to an end after scoring a half-century as Taskin Ahmed bowled him out in the 15th over. As a result, Bangladesh tied up Ireland in 125 runs, securing a comfortable victory at Chittagong.
