Arsenal regained the top position in the point table of the English Premier League following their dominating win over Brighton. At the same time, Unai Emery’s Aston Villa continues extending their winning run in the EPL. They defeated Brentford FC to go to the third place.

Arsenal 2-0 Brighton

As Arsenal lost their last league game against Aston Villa, the Gunners have been very desperate today to get back on the winning track. At Emirate Stadium, Arsenal welcomed Brighton and Hove Albion, where the home side smashed the visitors with two goals.

But it was a very tight game as both sides had plenty of chances in the first half. Although Arsenal had more possession than the Seagulls, they failed to break the deadlock in the first half. As a result, the first half ended in a 0-0 tie.

Coming back from the break, the Gunners started an all-out attack against the visitors, resulting in Arsenal finding the net early in the second half. Gabriel Jesus broke the deadlock as he scored a brilliant goal in the 53rd minute, giving Arsenal a much-needed lead.

Brighton, on the other hand, fought for their lives to find the equalizer. But Arsenal’s defense, built up with Saliba and Gabriel in the center, was almost unbreakable and didn’t concede a goal.

In addition, Kai Havertz confirmed Arsenal’s all three points with a beautiful finish in the dying minute. The former Chelsea man netted the ball in the 87th minute and secured Arsenal’s victory at Emirate Stadium.

Aston Villa 2-1 Brentford

Aston Villa’s winning run continues in the English Premier League under Unai Emery. Despite conceding a goal in the first half, Aston Villa made a brilliant response and returned two goals to win the match.

However, Brentford welcomed Aston Villa at Gtech Community Stadium. Brentford’s manager Thomas Frank played his team in a 3-5-2 formation, where he used two wing-backs with three center-backs. Besides, Unai Emery used the same formation as Thomas Frank.

The match started with Aston Villa creating a lot of chances in the first 15 minutes. But Brentford settled down eventually and started pushing the visitors. Finally, the home side took the lead when Keane Lewis-Potter broke the deadline in the 45th minute. Therefore, the Bees went to the break with a one-goal lead.

Aston Villa had gone wild after the break, and they highly pressed the opponents. But it seemed Brentford would win the game as they defended extremely well. However, the scenario started changing when Brentford’s defender Ben Mee saw a red card in the 70th minute.

Aston Villa took that advantage and became more aggressive. After that, they took only seven minutes to find the equalizer as Alex Moreno scored in the 77th minute. Ollie Watkins, furthermore, secured Aston Villa’s victory with a fantastic goal in the 85th minute. In the end, the Villa secured a thrilling victory and have extended their winning run.
