Arsenal are now seriously competing for the league title. For the last few weeks, the Gunners have been humiliating the opponents they have faced in the Premier League. Arsenal maintained their ruthless approach when they welcomed Newcastle United last night at Emirates Stadium.

Following five straight wins in the English Premier League, Arsenal faced off against Newcastle United last night at Emirates Stadium, where the Gunners humiliated the Magpies to secure a dominating win by a 4-1 margin. As a result, Arsenal are now just one point behind Manchester City and two points behind the table topper, Liverpool.

Match Report

Arsenal suffered a shock defeat in the weekend when FC Porto defeated them in the UEFA Champions League. As a result, the Gunners were desperate to bounce back when they welcomed Newcastle United last night.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta set up the team formation with 4-3-3, where Bukayo Saka led the frontline along with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli. Besides, Eddie Howe also followed the same formation for Newcastle United.

The match started with the two teams trying to get an early lead. But it was Arsenal who took the lead first in the game. Arsenal took the lead when Newcastle’s defender Sven Botman, instead of clearing the ball, put it into his own net.

Newcastle United never fought back after conceding the goal. Meanwhile, the Gunners were more aggressive following their lead and doubled it within a few minutes. This time, Kai Havertz found the back of the net when Gabriel Martinelli set him up a cleaver ball to score in the 24th minute.

However, Newcastle United failed to score in the first half. Therefore, Arsenal went to the break with a two-goal lead.

Coming back from the break, Newcastle seemed determined to get back in the game. But the home side didn’t let them make a comeback. Arsenal, literally, killed the game as Bukayo Saka scored the third goal of the match in the 65th minute. After that, Jakub Kiwior made the scoreline 4-0 with his first-ever league goal in the 69th minute.

Newcastle United, however, returned one with a goal from Joe Willock in the final ten minutes, but it couldn’t avoid the defeat against Arsenal.

Arteta on winning the game

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta shared his feelings after the match. He is very pleased with Arsenal’s performance against Newcastle United. In the post-match press conference, Arteta said, “I think we had a great performance, big credit to the boys after just half a day to prepare for the game. The way they executed everything – the intensity, the commitment, the determination, the aggression and progression in everything that we were doing with the ball. They played with a lot of courage against the team and we got rewarded. I think we fully deserved to win the game.”
