Arsenal FC won their last EPL title 19 years ago. Since then, they have been struggling in the league. However, the London side club has been a title contender since the beginning of this season. However, The Gunners suddenly lost their rhythm in the middle of the season. They haven’t won a single match in their last four games. Moreover, they lost three of them. Their most recent defeat was against Manchester City in the EPL. Now the question is Can Arsenal win the title?
Man City are the biggest threat to Arsenal
Defending champion Manchester City are the biggest threat to Arsenal. The Citizens were not in good form at the start of the season. But the Guardiola boys have got their prime form eventually. In their last match, they defeated the table topper Arsenal and are now standing at the top of the table. Man City have the same point as Arsenal, 51. But Arsenal played one game less than the Citizens.
There are long ways to go for the Gunners. They still have games against top clubs such as Chelsea, Newcastle, Man City, and Liverpool. To win the league, Arsenal must earn points from these big matches. Arsenal boss Mike Arteta knows it very well. He said, “Psychologically, there is a marathon still. There is very far to go.”
“I said it at the start, I said it three months ago and I say it today, it’s about tomorrow. The most important thing is how we are tomorrow and focus on that,” Arteta said after the defeat against Man City.
What to change?
Arsenal’s boss needs to change something in his squad. Some players are not in their previous form after the world cup. Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli is a prime example. He scored seven goals and registered two assists so far. But all these came at the start of the league. The player is yet to score in 2023.
So the manager might change him in the coming days, and Gabriel Jesus may return to the squad. Jesus made a good impact since his joining the Gunners. But he was ruled out due to injury. He has recovered and trained with the squad. The manager may give him chance once again to the team.
