Arsenal have run riot over Crystal Palace at Emirate Stadium, smashing the Eagles by a massive 5-0 margin. Arsenal were winless in their last three league games, including two consecutive defeats. As a result, they slipped down from the top of the table and were very desperate to get back on the winning track when they host Crystal Palace this evening at Emirates Stadium.

However, Arsenal showed a destructive attitude towards the Eagles and humiliated the London side club with five goals. This much-needed win has moved Arsenal to third place with 43, the same as Man City. On the other hand, Crystal Palace are now in 14th with 21 points only.

Match Report

As Arsenal were desperate to be back on the winning track, Mikel Arteta played his best possible XI against Crystal Palace. He set up the team formation with 4-3-3, where Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka led the frontline along with Leandro Trossard. On the other hand, Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson played his team in an attacking 3-4-3 formation, using three CBs with two wing-backs.

From the beginning, Arsenal tried to take control of the match, creating tons of chances from the start. As a result, the Gunners didn’t have to wait much to get the lead. Arsenal had taken the lead when defender Gabriel converted the corner kick of Declan Rice into a stunning goal in the 11th minute.

After that, Crystal Palace responded well and tried hard to find the equalizer. But Arsenal defended really well as well as they kept pressing and pushing for another goal. However, the Gunners got their second goal just before half-time. It was almost similar to their first one, coming from the corner. The Gunners, however, secured a 2-0 lead in the first half after Crystal Palace failed to break Arsenal’s defense in the remaining minutes.

Coming from the break, Arsenal continued their pressing over the Eagles. Especially, their midfield, built up with Odegaard, Havertz, and Rice, did an excellent job against Crystal Palace. They dominated the midfield and supplied the ball to the forwards. Therefore, the Gunners got their third goal early in the second half when Leandro Trossard found the net in the 59th minute with the help of Gabriel Jesus.

As both sides were not scoring more, it seemed the match would end with a 3-0 scoreline. But Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli stole the show in injury time. Coming off the bench in the 70th minute, Gabriel Martinelli scored a brilliant brace in the dying moment. He first found the net in the 90+4th minute from Nketiah’s assist. Martinelli, however, completed his brace within a minute as he found the net in the 90+5th minute to secure a dominating victory for Arsenal.
