Last night, Chelsea FC welcomed Man United at Stamford Bridge, where the home team got an early lead against the Red Devils. The home team scored a goal in just four minutes when Conor Gallagher’s ground shot beat Andre Onana to find the back of the net.
The first 20 minutes were a total disaster for Manchester United as they couldn’t hold the ball for a while. “We started poor by giving the ball away, defending poorly on the first two occasions,” Erik Ten Hag said in the post-match press conference.
Additionally, Chelsea earned a penalty kick when Antony fouled Marc Cucurella inside the box. Cole Palmer stepped forward to take the spot kick and made no mistake for the Blues.
But Manchester United reacted brilliantly after conceding two goals early. It all started with Alejandro Garnacho’s fantastic goal in the 34th minute. Within five minutes, the visitors found the equalizer as Bruno Fernandes converted Dalot’s cross into a stunning goal with a header. However, the first half ended in a 2-2 tie as both teams couldn’t score more in the remaining minutes.
“We started the game really well and at 2-0 for us the game was under control. Then we made a mistake and we suffered a big emotional impact. It wasn’t easy to deal with this,” Pochettino explained the situation after conceding goals.
Coming from the break, the two teams repeatedly created a lot of chances. But it was Manchester United who scored first in the second half. In the 67th minute, Antony provided a fantastic pass to Alejandro Garnacho, and Garnacho scored from it with a header.
After that, the match was under Man United’s control. Going down from 2-0, the Red Devils made it 3-2 and were close to winning it. But the scenario changed in the injury time!
Madueke, coming off the bench, won a penalty kick when Dalot fouled him in the injury time. Cole Palmer once again stepped forward and successfully found the back of the net from 12 yards to level the scoreline at 3-3. Palmer struck a powerful shot outside the box after a minute, which was reflected on Scott McTominay and went in! There was no time left for Manchester United to bounce back, resulting in Chelsea securing a dramatic 4-3 win over the Red Devils at Stamford Bridge.

Cole Palmer, the hattrick hero, stole all the spotlight in the match against Manchester United. Manager Pochettino is very pleased with Palmer’s performance throughout the season. Pochettino said, “One of his best skills is his mentality and his capacity to deal with the pressure. He’s young, it is his first season playing very consistently and I think it is amazing the way he deals with the pressure. That shows he can be a very good player. Looking at his performance today it is impossible to say that he’s not a top player, but there’s still a lot of room to improve.”
