Quick Navigation
It’s been a very tough season for London side club Chelsea FC. Last year, they couldn’t qualify for the UEFA Champions League, and their poor form also continues this season.
Chelsea will travel to Craven Cottage tonight to play against the home side, Fulham FC. Like Chelsea, Fulham are also not in their best form. But they are three points ahead of Chelsea and hope to increase the deficit with a victory tonight.
Stats & Facts
- Last season, Fulham were unbeaten against Chelsea FC in two meetings. They picked up four points from these two games with one win and one draw.
- Chelsea FC won only one of their all six games so far in the Premier League, losing three and drawing one.
- Scoring is a massive concern for Chelsea as they have failed to score in their last three consecutive games in the league. The last time Chelsea scored a goal in the PL was in August. Only Burnley FC scored fewer goals than Chelsea.
- Chelsea have a strong head-to-head record against Fulham FC. They have won 50 of their 89 meetings with Fulham FC in all competitions. Meanwhile, Fulham registered 12 victories and the remaining 27 games ended in a tie.
Team News
Injuries are a big problem for Chelsea! They are missing so many players due to injury issues. They have lost another player during their EFL Cup match against Brighton, where the Blues beat Brighton by a narrow 1-0 margin. Defender Ben Chilwell picked up a hamstring injury during this match and will be out of the team for a few weeks.
However, Romeo Lavia, Benoit Badiashile, Reece James, Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana, Marcus Bettinelli, and Trevoh Chalobah all remain out of the squad due to their respective injury. But manager Mauricio Pochettino hopes to get Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke back ahead of the game.
As for Fulham FC, Calvin Bassey got a knock during Fulham’s win over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup. Manager Marco Silva didn’t provide an update on him in the pre-match press conference, but Calvin Bassey is likely to miss the game.
Tosin Adarabioyo, Adama Traore, and Kenny Tete are still injured, while Sasa Lukic has returned to training ahead of tonight’s game.
The Possible Lineup for Fulham:
Leno; Tete, Diop, Ream, Robinson; Palhinha, Reed; Decordova-Reid, Pereira, Iwobi; Jimenez
The Possible Lineup for Chelsea:
Sanchez; Cucurella, Disasi, Silva, Colwill; Caicedo, Fernandez, Gallagher; Palmer, Sterling, Mudryk
Prediction: Fulham 1-1 Chelsea
As we mentioned, Chelsea’s main problem is scoring. Their forwards will have a tough task to break Fulham’s defense at Craven Cottage. However, the Blues have a decent record in defending. They haven’t conceded many goals so far. But being a home team, Fulham always have a chance to find the net. Therefore, we expect this game will ended in a 1-1 tie.
