Things got complicated day by day for Man United’s Brazilian winger Antony Santos. The Brazil Football Federation dropped Antony from their World Cup Qualifiers following the initial allegation made by his ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavalin.

Gabriela Cavalin accused Antony of being violent against her. However, Antony strongly denied all the allegations made against him. The Man United’s winger had an exclusive interview with Brazilian network SBT this week. He denies it and hopes the truth will come out very soon.

While asked if he assaulted a woman, Antony replied, “Never. I never have and I never will.”

“It is totally wrong, 100 percent false. I have a mother and a sister. I would never want this to happen to them,” Antony added.

Antony Will Not Return to Man United Until Further Notice

The international break is going on. However, the players who are not on international duty are due to return on Monday at Man United’s training camp. But Antony will not return tomorrow until he gets further notice from Manchester United.

The investigations are going on, while Brazil already have dropped Antony for their upcoming games. Meanwhile, Manchester United haven’t taken any action yet as they prefer to wait for the final result of the investigation.

However, the club has agreed with Antony that he will delay his return to help the investigation. Today, Manchester United released a statement regarding this issue.

The statement reads, “Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony. Players who have not participated in international matches are due back in training on Monday. However, it has been agreed with Antony that he will delay his return until further notice in order to address the allegations.”

They stated, “As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”

A statement has also been released from Antony. “I have agreed with Manchester United to take a period of absence while I address the allegations made against me,” Antony stated.

“This was a mutual decision to avoid distraction to my team-mates and unnecessary controversy for the club. I want to reiterate my innocence of the things I have been accused of, and I will fully cooperate with the police to help them reach the truth. I look forward to returning to play as soon as possible.”

Upset for Erik Ten Hag
