Quick Navigation
After a dominating win against Afghanistan in their first game, Bangladesh are ready to face off against England tomorrow in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup. Their match will be played at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium in Dharamshala. The outfield of this stadium has created so much criticism after the game between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Its outfield is very poor and risky for players. But ICC didn’t change the venue for tomorrow’s game.
However, England are still searching for a victory in this World Cup. They played the opening game of this tournament, where New Zealand beat the Three Lions in the opener. As a result, England have become desperate to beat Bangladesh to get their first win in ICC World Cup 2023.
Anyway, Bangladesh have a mixed experiences in their recent games. They have lost three of their last five matches and won two. Meanwhile, England were in their prime form before coming to India for the World Cup. They have lost only one of their last five, and their only defeat came in the World Cup opener.
Possible Changes
Bangladesh: Generally, no one wants to break the winning combination. After winning against Afghanistan, Bangladesh is likely to deploy the same squad against England. But there are some rumors before the match!
According to several Bangladeshi reports, Liton Kumar Das might be replaced against England. This opener hasn’t been in his best form. His last five innings ended with 13, 6, 0, 15, and 16 runs. Therefore, the team management is thinking of dropping out of Liton Das. So if they drop Liton, who will start the innings for Bangladesh?
Well, Mehedi Hasan Miraz has been brilliant for many days. He won the Player of the Match award against Afghanistan for his outstanding performance with the ball and bat. He could start the innings with Tanzid Hasan Tamim if Liton is dropped. Therefore, Bangladesh can add another spinner to replace Liton. Spinner Mehdi is a favorite to get selected for tomorrow.
But there is an alternative option. If Liton plays, Bangladesh could replace Mahmudullah Riyad for Mehdi. But nothing has been confirmed yet. The probable XI for Bangladesh is given below:
- Miraz
- Tanzid Tamim
- Nazmul Hasan Shanto
- Shakib Al Hasan
- Towhid Hridoy
- Mushfiqur Rahim
- Mahmudullah Riyad
- Mehdi
- Taskin Ahmed
- Shoriful Islam
- Mustafizur Rahman
England: Ben Stoke has withdrawn his retirement from playing in the ODI World Cup. Unfortunately, he has sustained a hip injury and missed the opening game against New Zealand.
However, the all-rounder has batted inside the net and made a free run in the training. But the team management doesn’t want to take any risk with him. He is likely to miss tomorrow’s game against Bangladesh. Harry Brooks will likely start over him if he doesn’t play tomorrow. Follow our Cricketbook for more updates.
Buttler isn’t happy with the outfield
England’s captain Josh Buttler is not happy with the outfield of Dharamshala. During an interview with BBC, Buttler said, “The only thing I would question is if you are telling players not to dive and stuff, does that question the integrity of the game really because that is what you want to be able to do. Worst-case scenario is something bad happens but fingers crossed that doesn’t happen for both teams.”
