After losing two consecutive games against West Indies in a five-match T20 series, India made a strong comeback in the third match to keep their hope alive. The third match was a Do-or-Die for India, and they made it! Today, India defeated West Indies by a dominating seven wickets at Guyana National Stadium.

West Indies had a slow start

Winning the toss, the Caribbeans started their batting innings with Brandon King and Kyle Mayers. Although the two openers had a good partnership, their approach was not aggressive. Both consumed dot balls to build a partnership of 55 runs. 

However, Axar Patel gave a breakthrough as he picked up the wicket of Kyle Mayers, who scored 25 off 20 balls before leaving the crease. Johnson Charles also failed to contribute much as he returned to the pavilion with 12 runs only.

After that, Nicholas Pooran came in and tried to accelerate the scoreboard. He made a good impact, hitting six and two fours. But his aggressive innings came to an end in the 14.1 over. Opener Brandon King looked good, but Kuldeep Yadav bowled him out in the 15th over. Brandon King scored the highest 42 runs for the Caribbeans.

Captain’s knock

Captain Rovman Powell had a brilliant innings today against India. He gave a huge boost to the scoreboard. Coming at 5, the captain scored an aggressive 40 runs only from 19 balls. He smashed three sixes and a four in his innings. Moreover, Rovman Powell remained not out today to set a target of 160 runs for India.

India had a poor start but recovered well

Chasing the target, India had a very poor start. They lost their first wicket in the very first over as Obed McCoy picked up Yashavsi Jaiswal. Shubman Gill also failed to contribute, leaving the crease after scoring only six runs. As a result, India became two men down in just 34 runs.

However, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma handled the initial disaster brilliantly. The two batters were ruling the Caribbean bowlers. They made a match-winning partnership of 87 runs, which changed the momentum completely.

Suryakumar was very aggressive between the wickets. He smashed ten fours and four sixes to score the highest 83 runs only from 44 balls. Meanwhile, Tilak Varma added an unbeaten 49 runs from 39 balls. Captain Hardik Pandya also contributed 20 off 15 to chase the target within 18 overs, losing three wickets. As a result, India won the third T20 by seven wickets and keep their hope alive in the series.
