The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup starts on Thursday with the match between New Zealand and the defending champions, England. Therefore, every team has been playing the warm-up games. Today, Australia have faced off against Pakistan in their last warm-up game, where the Aussies defeated Pakistan in a high-scoring match.

India are the host of this World Cup, and they tried to make batting-friendly wickets for this biggest cricket show. This is what exactly happened today in the match between Australia and Pakistan. Batters from both sides didn’t face many difficulties when they batted. Australia scored an aggressive 351 runs from 50 overs, while Pakistan also got closer to the target. Unfortunately, they were in short of 14 runs as they lost all their wickets in 337 runs.

Batting Innings of Australia

David Warner and Mitchell Marsh continue their good form in the ODI format. Warner had a difficult time for the last few months but has recovered well. He has been getting decent scores in his last few innings and also did well today against Pakistan.

With Mitchell Marsh, David Warner made a partnership of 83 runs before losing the wicket. Warner missed the half-century only for two runs, while Marsh lost his wicket after scoring 38.

Steve Smith couldn’t stay long on the crease as he departed in the 24.1 over, scoring 27 runs. But Marnus Labuschagne added a quick 40 from 31 balls with five boundaries.

But the highest runs came from Glenn Maxwell. The hard-hit batsman showed his aggression once again. With six sixes and four fours, Glenn Maxwell scored the highest 77 runs for Australia. In addition, Cameron Green and Josh Inglis boosted the scoreboard, coming in the lower order. 

Josh Inglis added a quick 48 off 30, while Cameron Green remained not out with 50 off 40. Relying on them, Australia ended their batting innings with a massive 351 runs.

Batting Innings of Pakistan

Chasing the massive target, Pakistan’s start was very poor. They had gone four wickets down in 83 runs. But Babar Azam made a strong response along with Iftikhar Ahmed. From 83 to 255, they made a fantastic partnership of 172 runs to handle the disaster. 

There was a belief that Pakistan could chase the target. But everything changed when Babar Azam left the crease after being retired hurt. Before leaving the pitch, he scored a devastating 90 runs from 59 balls. Meanwhile, Iftikhar Ahmed added 83 off 85 today. After that, Mohammad Nawaz contributed 50 off 42, but it was not enough to chase the target.

However, they lost wickets in quick succession and were eventually all out for 346 runs in 47.4 overs. In the end, Australia won the match by 14 runs to complete their warm-up games ahead of the World Cup.
