Australia Women’s Cricket Team has booked their place in the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. After defeating India by five runs in the semifinal, Australia secured the final and now have another chance to lift the trophy once again.

Toss: Meg Lanning, the captain of Australia, won the toss and opted to bat first at Newlands Cricket Ground.

Australia had a decent start

Winning the toss, Australia started their batting innings with Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney. The two openers were playing comfortably from the beginning of the innings. In the powerplay, Australia didn’t lose any wickets. Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney picked up 52 runs in the opening wicket.

However, Australia Women’s lost their first batter in the 8th over as Radha Yadav picked up Alyssa Healy. Before leaving the crease, Alyssa scored 25 runs with three boundaries. Besides, Beth Mooney continued scoring runs. She made another partnership with the skipper, Meg Lanning. This time, they added 36 runs on the scoreboard. Anyway, Beth Mooney departed the pitch after scoring 54 off 37 balls.

The skipper remained not out

After losing two wickets, Australia’s skipper Meg Lanning took responsibility with Ashleigh Gardner. Ashleigh Gardner was more aggressive than the skipper. Both added 53 runs combined for the team.

Ashleigh Gardner smashed five boundaries in 18 balls to score a quick 31 runs. However, she lost her wicket in the 18th over as Deepti Sharma bowled her out. But the skipper remained not out today. Her unbeaten 49 off 34 balls helped the team to score 172 runs in 20 overs.

India’s top order failed to contribute

Chasing the target, India’s top order was totally destroyed by the Aussie bowlers. India lost three wickets in 28 runs. Smriti Mandhana, Shefali Verma, and Yastika Bhatia had to go back to the pavilion without much contribution.

Jemimah and Harmanpreet fought hard

After losing three wickets early, Jemimah Rodriguez and Harmanpreet Kaur fought for their lives to handle the situation. Both batters batted carefully and were heading toward the target. They picked up 69 runs together on the scoreboard.

Jemimah scored 43 off 24 balls, while Harmanpreet Kaur picked up the highest 52 runs before losing the wicket. After them, the other batters failed to contribute much. The innings ended with 167 runs, which sealed Australia’s victory.
