June 6 marks the beginning of the third test of the five-match Ashes series. After completing Day 2, Australia are in the lead with 142 runs. This third game is a do-or-die for England, as they lost the first two matches of the series.

1st Innings of Australia

In the ongoing third match of the highly anticipated Ashes series, Australia faced a challenging first innings against England, managing to score only 263 runs before losing all ten wickets. The Australian team’s top run-scorers were Mitchel Marsh, who played a remarkable innings, and Travis Head.

Mitchel Marsh emerged as the standout performer for Australia, exhibiting exceptional skill and determination. Marsh’s brilliant knock of 118 runs provided a much-needed rescue for Australia’s batting lineup, as he single-handedly fought against England’s formidable bowling attack.

On the other hand, England’s Mark Wood delivered a sensational performance, wreaking havoc among the Australian batsmen. Wood proved to be the nemesis for Australia, taking an impressive four wickets and dismantling their batting order. Ollie Robinson also got two wickets of Australia. Therefore, England tied up the Aussies with 263 runs only.

1st Innings of England

Following a tightly contested first innings from Australia, the host team England faced a challenging batting performance of their own. Just like Australia, England’s top order faltered, failing to accumulate significant runs. However, captain Ben Stokes emerged as the standout performer yet again, contributing a commendable 80 runs to anchor England’s innings.

Despite Stokes’ valiant effort, Australia’s captain Pat Cummins played a pivotal role in shackling England’s batting lineup. Cummins showcased his exceptional bowling prowess by claiming an impressive six wickets, singlehandedly dismantling England’s hopes of posting a formidable total.

With Cummins leading the way, the Australian bowlers displayed a dominant performance, collectively restricting England to 237 runs in their first innings. The Australian team’s disciplined and relentless bowling attack created significant challenges for the English batsmen, thwarting their attempts to build substantial partnerships. As a result, Australia took the lead by 26 runs after the first innings.

2nd Innings of Australia

The first innings see Australia taking the lead by 26 runs. But their second innings haven’t been good enough so far. They have already lost four batters in 116 runs. Opener David Warner’s poor form continues in this game. He scored only five runs in two innings.

However, Usman Khawaja tried hard to build a partnership with Marnus Labuschagne. Their partnership added 57 runs on the scoreboard. But Moeen Ali broke their partnership as he picked up Labuschagne in the 25.2 over. After a while, Khawaja also lost his wicket in 43 runs.

Travis Head and Mitchel Marsh are now leading the team. Head remained not out in 18 runs, while Marsh added an unbeaten 17 runs after Day 2. Both will continue tomorrow, aiming to set a challenging target for England.
