What a match we’ve witnessed in the Primer League action between Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion! Both sides have been very dominating this season, but Aston Villa humiliated Roberto de Zerbi’s Brighton at Villa Park.

Aston Villa defeated Brighton by a massive 6-1 margin, where striker Ollie Watkins scored a hat-trick for Aston Villa. As a result, Aston Villa have entered the top fours with 15 points. Brighton also have equal points, but they stand behind the Unai Emery’s boys due to a lower Goal Difference.

Gameweek 7 of the English Premier League started with the match between Aston Villa and Brighton. Aston Villa welcomed the Roberto de Zerbi’s emerging Brighton at Villa Park. However, managers from both sides set up their team’s formation with the same 4-2-3-1. 

The Villa boss Unai Emery deployed Ollie Watkins in the front with the backing of McGinn, Diaby, and Zaniolo. Meanwhile, Roberto de Zerbi used his young goalscorer Evan Ferguson in the front.

The home team was so aggressive from the very first minute of the match. They didn’t take much time to break the deadlock as striker Ollie Watkins gave Aston Villa a 1-0 lead with a fantastic goal. The striker doubled their lead within six minutes! This time, he scored with an assist from Moussa Diaby.

Conceding two goals in a short period of time, Brighton & Hove Albion lost their rhythm. They became unorganized, and their defense was a bit shaky. Brighton’s most in-form defender Estupinan made an error as he put the ball into his own net. As a result, Brighton had gone 3-0 down in the first half.

The visitors, however, tried hard to get back onto the track in the second half. Manager de Zerbi replaced Evan Ferguson with their new signing Ansu Fati, who joined the Seagulls from FC Barcelona on loan. However, Fati made his mark with a stunning goal. His goal in the 50th minute gave Brighton a lifeline. 

But Aston Villa were so aggressive and didn’t let the visitors make a comeback. It was Ollie Watkins who found the net again for Aston Villa. He netted the ball in the 65th minute to complete his hat-trick in this match. 

After that, Brighton completely lost the track and the home side took that advantage. The final 10 minutes and additional time saw Aston Villa score two more goals. Jacob Ramsey wrote his name in the score sheet for Aston Villa in the 85th minutes, while Dougas Luis scored the 6th goal of the match in the additional time. As a result, Aston Villa secured the match by a massive 6-1 margin at Villa Park and have moved to the 4th place.

Aston Villa got tremendous support from the gallery, and Unai Emery Asdidn’t forget to appreciate the fans. “I am very happy for our supporters. After we lost at home here on Wednesday, we reacted very well and we connected with them and I think we are feeling very good here. We are feeling strong here with the supporters, we are connected with them, they are trying to help us and connect with us,” Unai Emery said in the post-match reaction.
