Brighton & Hove Albion are flying in the English Premier League under Roberto de Zerbi. They have ended Man United’s unbeaten run at Old Trafford. Old Trafford has been a fortress for Manchester United as they were unbeaten in their last 31 matches at their home ground. But Brighton ran riot over the Red Devils and have ended the unbeaten streak of Manchester United. Today, they cruised past Manchester United by a 3-1 margin in this stadium.

It is Man United’s second consecutive defeat in the league this season and third in five games. Moreover, Brighton have made history today against the Red Devils. They have registered their fourth successive victory against Manchester United for the first time in their history.

This dominating victory moves Brighton to the third place with 12 points, three points behind the table topper. On the other hand, Manchester United’s position is going down day by day. They are now in 12th with six points only.

As it happened

Today, Manchester United welcomed Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford. Erik Ten Hag made several changes to the squad that played against Arsenal to face Brighton today. As we reported earlier, Antony and Jadon Sancho won’t play against Brighton. Therefore, captain Bruno Fernandes started in the right flank, while Rasmus Hojlund played in the center and Rashford in the left wing. With this game, Rasmus Hojlund made his home debut for Manchester United.

On the other hand, Roberto de Zerbi set up Brighton’s team formation with 4-2-3-1, where Danny Welbeck played as the center forward.

However, the match started with Man United pushing the visitors for a goal. Man United tried hard to take the lead in the beginning, while Brighton’s focus was not to concede an early goal. Anyway, Brighton settled down on the pitch slowly and started creating chances.

The first blood was drawn when former Man United player Danny Welbeck found the back of the net in the 20th minute. Man United’s defense seemed unstable today as they continuously failed to stop Brighton’s attack. However, the Red Devils could have leveled the scoreline before the half-time. Unfortunately, Rasmus Hojlund’s goal was ruled out after the VAR check. Therefore, the first half ended with Brighton leading at Old Trafford.

The second half was a total disaster for the home side. Midfield with Casemiro, Eriksen, and Scott Mctominay didn’t work out against the Seagulls. So the visitors easily entered inside Man United’s defense and doubled their lead at the start of the second half. Pascal Grob made the scoreline 2-0 with a fantastic finish.

Furthermore, the visitors netted again as Joao Pedro beat Andre Onana in the 71st minute to make the scoreline 3-0. However, Hannibal Mejbri returned a goal for Manchester United. But it only reduced the deficit and failed to avoid a humiliating defeat against Brighton.
