It’s been a very difficult season for Chelsea FC under their new manager, Mauricio Pochettino. The Blues finished the league in the 12th previous season, and they are also out of the top ten in this current season after playing 27 games in the league.

However, Chelsea are ready to be back in action today after the international break when they host Burnley at Stamford Bridge. The Blues went to the break with a thrilling 3-2 win over Newcastle United. Today, they will try to extend their winning run when they play against Burnley FC.

Burnley, on the other hand, are having a nightmare in this season. They earned only 17 points after 29 games and are now struggling in the relegation zone.

Stats & Facts

  • Burnley have won only one of their 17 away games against Chelsea in the Premier League, which came in 2017 at Stamford Bridge. However, Chelsea won 12 meetings and tied the remaining four.
  • Burnley has failed to keep a clean sheet in any of those 17 encounters.
  • Although Chelsea are having a difficult time, they have won five of their last six home games in the league.
  • Chelsea have scored in their previous 11 matches in a row. They could score in 12 successive games for the first time since 2009.
  • Burnley have got four points in their last two league matches with a draw and a win. It is the first time they have gone unbeaten in two games in a row.

Team News

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has to deal with tons of injury issues.

Ben Chilwell played two games for England during the international break and picked up an injury, which will keep him out of the Chelsea squad for today’s game.

Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez missed a few training sessions as he returned late from his international duty. But Pochettino is hopeful about Cole Palmer. Palmer was called up for England but couldn’t play due to a small injury. However, Pochettino confirmed that Palmer is fine and can play today.

Apart from them, Chelsea will miss the service of Romeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Lesley Ugochukwu, Levi Colwill, Chukwuemeka, Robert Sanchez, and Trevoh Chalobah due to their respective injury.

As for Burnley, Aaron Ramsey and Luca Koleosho are out of the squad due to a knee injury, while Nathan Redmond is unavailable because of his thigh injury.

Possible Lineup for Chelsea:

Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Silva, Chilwell; Caicedo, Fernandez; Palmer, Gallagher, Mudryk; Jackson

Possible Lineup for Burnley:

Trafford; Assignon, O’Shea, Esteve, Taylor; Vitinho, Cullen, Berge, Larsen; Odobert, Foster

Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Burnley

Chelsea have been very inconsistent throughout the season. But they showed their attacking prowess against Newcastle United in their previous game. Besides, Burnley’s defense is a total disaster. They have conceded 63 goals in 29 matches so far – the second-highest in the league. Therefore, Chelsea should win this match easily at Stamford Bridge.
