Spanish giant Real Madrid secured all three points at Santiago Bernabeu against Espanyol. Real Madrid have been winless in their last three matches before today. Therefore, the Los Blancos were desperate to get three points today at their home ground. Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are now six points apart after this victory.

Real Madrid welcomed Espanyol Espanyol at Santiago Bernabeu. Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti played his team in the formation of 4-3-3, where Vinicius Junior led the attack in the absence of Karim Benzema. Rodrygo and Fede Valverde also played in the front. On the other hand, Espanyol’s manager played his team in a 4-4-2 formation.

However, the match started with the visitors shocking the home side. In just eight minutes, Real Madrid conceded the first goal as Espanyol’s striker Joselu found the net with the help of Sanchez. Nonetheless, Real Madrid did not allow any upsets to occur at the Santiago Bernabeu. They leveled the scoreline in the 22nd minute as in-form forward Vinicius Junior scored from Toni Kroos’ assist.

After finding the equalizer, Real Madrid became very ruthless at their home ground. They highly pushed the visitors and tried to take the lead. As a result, the Los Blancos took the lead within the first half. This time, defender Eder Militao netted the ball in the 39th minute.

Returning from the break, Espanyol tried hard to find the equalizer, but Real Madrid were dominant. Both sides missed several chances, while Real Madrid succeed in the last moment. Marco Asensio scored the third goal in injury time to make the scoreline 3-1 and sealed the victory.

Reaction

Vinicius Junior talked after the game. He said, “We were calm enough to come back from a goal down. Whenever we get into a situation like this, we come out of it very comfortably. I’d like to win games more easily, but that’s the way it is, and we have to keep working to achieve great things this season.”

Vinicius appreciated the support from the fans. He said, “Thanks to the fans for coming out in such numbers. We hope there will be even more on Wednesday. I’m very happy with the fans, the coach and for playing for the greatest team in the world, I’m very fortunate. I have to keep on working and improving to help all these people who love me so much.”
