Manchester United have played their last game in their US tour for the pre-season. In the famous Las Vegas, Manchester United faced off against German club Borussia Dortmund today. However, their US tour ended with a defeat against Borussia Dortmund as they lost the game by a 3-2 margin at Allegiant Stadium.

As it happened

As part of the US tour, Manchester United met Borussia Dortmund today. Man United’s manager Erik Ten Hag set up the team formation with 4-2-3-1. The manager deployed some young players with several first-team players. On the other hand, Dortmund’s boss Edin Terzić played his team in a 4-3-3 formation.

However, the match started with both sides aggressively seeking goals. But Manchester United dominated the first half. They tried to keep more possession on the ball and kept pushing the German club.

It took 25 minutes for Manchester United to break the deadlock. Portuguese Right-Back Diego Dalot drew the first blood as he scored a stunning goal outside from the box in the 25th minute. Man United had more chances in the remaining minutes of the first half, but they couldn’t score more. On the other hand, Borussia Dortmund eventually took control of the game. They had a fantastic ten minutes at the very last moment of the first half. In the 43rd minute, Donyell Malen leveled the scoreline as he found the net with the help of Adeyemi. The striker hit again within two minutes. This time, he completed his brace by scoring another goal in the 45th minute. Therefore, Dortmund went to the break with a 2-1 margin.

Manchester United made a quick response in the second half. They took only seven minutes to find the equalizer. Brazilian winger Antony earned the equalizer for Man United in the 52nd minute. However, Man United’s defense was a bit shaky today. They made several errors and conceded goals. In the 71st minute, Manchester United conceded their third goal as Yousouffa Moukoko scored a brilliant goal from Marco Reus’s cross.

After that, Manchester United had so many chances to score. But their attackers were not clinical enough to find the net. This game shows why Manchester United need a striker. Fortunately, they have agreed to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta. Man United’s fans have high hopes for this new striker. Man United will announce the signing of Hojlund in 48 hours.

Ten Hag’s Reaction

Man United boss Erik Ten Hag didn’t like the way Man United conceded two goals. He said, “Two parts – first hour [was] good, well-performing, playing as a team, lot of dynamic, good pressing, so it was really enjoyable to see. That is what I wanted to say to the team at half-time and then all of a sudden, they gave two goals away and they really were giveaways. So that was already annoying, but the last half an hour was bad, was a poor performance. Didn’t follow the rules at all, not in pressing, not in building up, and not in attacking, so there were 11 individuals finally on the pitch and that wasn’t good at all.”
