Match Report

As the international break is going on, Morocco hosted Brazil last night in a friendly. Morocco had been brilliant in the Qatar World Cup, defeating giant teams such as Spain, Belgium, and Portugal, and qualified for the semifinals.

Against Brazil last night, they had all their star players that showed their class in the world cup. In the formation of 4-3-3, the manager deployed Hakim Ziyech, Achraf Hakimi, Sofeyan Amrabat, and Boufal, who were magnificent in Qatar.

On the other hand, Ramon Meneses, who was taking care of Brazil U-20, has been appointed as the interim manager of the national team of Brazil. He was in charge of the match against Morocco. But the manager made a controversial decision in selecting the starting XI. The manager didn’t call up almost half of the squad that played in the world cup.

However, the manager set up the team formation with 4-3-3, where Vinicius Junior led the frontline with Rodrygo and Rony, who made his debut last night.

Despite having a very young team, Brazil had a good start against the home side. Especially, their front three looked very threatening whenever they got the ball. But one thing that Brazil suffered most was their inability to play collectively. As a result, the Seleção couldn’t make an organized attack very much.

On the other hand, Morocco showed how to play as a team. They scored the first goal of the match as Boufal found the net in the 29th minute. But Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, who was one of the best goalkeepers in the world cup, couldn’t perform well last night. He made several errors in the first half, but Morocco didn’t concede, fortunately.

In the second half, Brazil found an equalizer, all credit goes to the Moroccan goalkeeper. In the 67th minute, Casemiro took a shot outside from the box, but Yassine Bounou failed to stop it. But Morocco didn’t lose the tempo and scored again. This time, Abdelhamid Sabiri netted the ball in the 79th minute, which earned a history victory for Morocco.
