The tough times are going on for Brazil. After being knocked out from the quarterfinal of the Qatar World Cup, the board sacked manager Tite. Since then, Ramon Menezes has been the interim manager of this historical football team. After the World Cup in Qatar, Brazil played three games under Ramon Menezes. Unfortunately, they lost two of them. Last night, African powerhouse Senegal destroyed the five-time world champions at Estádio José Alvalade in Portugal. Despite conceding first, Senegal were brilliant to secure the victory against Brazil. They won the match by destroying the Selecao with four goals.

As it happened

As the international break is underway, Brazil faced off against Senegal last night in a friendly match in Portugal. Brazil are still looking for a manager since the departure of Tite. There are some strong rumors that Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti will become the new manager of Brazil at the beginning of 2024.

However, the team is now under the management of Ramon Menezes. Last night, Ramon Menezes set up Brazil’s team formation with 4-3-3. Unfortunately, Brazil missed the service of their biggest star, Neymar Jr, due to an injury. However, Vinicius Junior led the attack with Richarlison and Malcom.

On the other side, Senegal’s boss Aliou Cissé also used the same 4-3-3 formation against Brazil. Experienced Sadio Mane was the main man in the attack with Ismaila Sarr and Habib Diallo.

However, the match started with Brazil taking an early lead Estádio José Alvalade. It was Lucas Paqueta, who found the net for Brazil in just 11 minutes. He converted Vinicius’ cross into a goal with a powerful header. Furthermore, Brazil could have doubled their lead within three minutes, but Richarlison missed a big chance in the 13th minute. His shot missed the target nearly for an inch.

But Senegal never gave up the game despite conceding an early goal. They took only eleven more minutes to find the equalizer. Striker Habib Diallo scored a fantastic goal with a powerful volley in the 22nd minute.

Returning from the break, both sides tried hard to score more. But Senegal netted first in the 2nd half. Although Senegal got the goal, half of the credit was to Brazil’s captain Marquinhos. Instead of clearing the ball, the defender placed it into his own net. As a result, Senegal took the lead for the first time in the game.

After that, Sadio Mane made the scoreline 3-1 with a beautiful curl. But Marquinhos netted in the 58th minute to keep Brazil’s hope alive. Brazil fought for their lives to find the equalizer, but Senegal defended very well. Moreover, Brazil’s goalkeeper Ederson fouled Nicolas Jackson inside the box, which earned a penalty for Senegal. Sadio Mane took the spot kick and didn’t make any mistakes. As a result, Senegal secured a very thrilling victory against Brazil by a 4-2 margin.
