Bangladesh came to play the Asia Cup 2023 with lots of hope. But this tournament has been a disaster for them as their elimination has already been confirmed. Today, they played their last game in the Super 4 against India, who already booked their place in the final of this tournament.
However, Bangladesh signed off from Asia Cup 2023 with a fantastic victory against the finalist, India. They beat India by a thrilling six runs at Premadasa Stadium in Sri Lanka.

Batting Is a Concern for Bangladesh
The batting performance has been a matter of concern for Bangladesh. Experienced opener Tamim Iqbal missed this tournament due to injury, while Mushfiqur Rahim was absent today because of his family issue. However, Bangladesh made five changes today against India. Tanzid Hasan and Tanzim Hasan made their debut for the national team, while Anamul Haque Bijoy returned to the team after ages.
However, the top order of Bangladesh failed once again. Opener Liton continued his poor performance in this Asia Cup. He has gone duck against India, while Tanzid Hasan left the crease after scoring 13 off 12. Anamul Haque also failed to make a good impact after getting the chance. He contributed only four runs before losing the wicket to Shardul Thakur.
It was captain Shakib Al Hasan who stepped forward to rescue the team. The skipper played a vital role in the middle order to handle the disaster. With Towhid Hridoy, the captain made a fantastic partnership of 101 runs for Bangladesh. Shakib Al Hasan scored the highest 80 before leaving the crease, while Towhid Hridoy smashed a back-to-back half-century for Bangladesh. The young talent contributed 54 runs from 80 balls.
However, spinner Nasum Ahmed made a brilliant impact in the lower order. His 44 runs from 45 balls helped Bangladesh to post 265 runs in 50 overs.
For India, Shardul Thakur got three wickets and Mohammad Shami picked up two.
Shubman Gill could be a hero
Chasing the target, India lost some early wickets. Captain Rohit had gone duck, but Shubman Gill carried the team until the last. Shubman Gill could be a hero for India in this match as he got India so close to the target. When other batters came and lost their wickets, Shubman Gill remained super calm in the crease.
Shubman Gill scored a much-needed century today, while the other batters kept losing to Bangladeshi bowlers. Relying on him, India seemed to be the winner of this match. But Bangladesh took control of the game when Nasum Ahmed picked up the wicket of Gill. Before leaving the crease, Shubman Gill added a brilliant 121 runs for India.
However, Axar Patel also played a crucial role in the lower order. He hit some boundaries to keep India’s hope alive. But Mustafizur Rahman picked him up in the 48.4 over. After that, India couldn’t fight back. They became all out in 259 runs. Therefore, Bangladesh won their last game by six runs.
