Australia have secured the ODI series against the home team, India. Although Australia lost the first one, they made an unbelievable u-turn and won the rest two matches. Today, they beat the host by 21 runs, which sealed the series with a 2-1 margin.

Toss: Steve Smith, the ODI captain of Australia, won the toss and decided to bat first.

Australia had a decent start

Winning the toss, Australia started their batting innings with Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh. Since the previous two games were low-scoring affairs, the openers were very cautious. They tried not to lose wickets early. However, Travis Head and Marsh made a partnership of 68 runs.

After that, Hardik Pandya broke their partnership by taking the wicket of Travis Head. Captain Smith came into the crease but had gone duck. In addition, Mitchell Marsh also lost his wicket in the following over. Before leaving the pitch, he scored the highest 47 runs for the Aussies.

Middle order tried hard

Losing three wickets in a very short time, Australia were under tremendous pressure. But David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, and Alex Carey tried hard to make a good score. Warner added 23, while Labuschagne and Alex Carey contributed 28 and 38 runs each. However, the remaining batters failed to score enough. As a result, Australia became all-out in 269 runs. For India, Hardi Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets each.

India’s top-order performed well but middle-order collapsed

Chasing the target, India also had a good start, getting 65 runs from the opening partnership. Rohit Sharma scored 30 runs and Shubman Gill added 37 runs.

After these two batters, Virat Kohli made a fantastic partnership with KL Rahul. They added 69 runs together, which led India toward the target. Relying on these two batters, India seemed to win the game. But spinner Adam Zampa changed the match by taking KL Rahul’s wickets in the 28th over. Rahul scored 32 runs before losing the wicket. Moreover, Adam Zampa got four wickets, including Hardik Pandya’s crucial wicket.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli kept scoring runs. He also got a half-century against Australia but had to stop in the 36th over after scoring the highest 54 runs. After that, the remaining batters failed to score enough runs to win the match. They became all-out in 248 runs, resulting in Australia’s victory by 21 runs.
